SEATTLE PARKS TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING
ON FREMONT FIRE CIRCLE REPLACEMENT OPTIONS
Seattle Parks and Recreation will host a public meeting to discuss the replacement of the Fremont Fire Circle at Fremont Canal Park. The meeting will be held on Monday, Nov. 5, from 7 – 9 p.m. at B.F. Day Elementary School, 3921 Linden Ave. N.
This meeting will be hosted by a facilitator who will help the community and Seattle Parks brainstorm ideas about how a fire circle can be re-created and how the community can enjoy fires at the site in a way that fits within existing fire regulations.
In June 2007, in response to a Fire Marshal’s violation letter, Seattle Parks fenced off the fire circle area. After the fencing and signs were repeatedly burned, Seattle Parks flattened the 4-foot burn area and berm as a temporary measure to stop fires at this site and to avoid a $1,000-a-day fine from the Seattle Fire Department.
A representative from the Seattle Fire Marshal’s Office will be at the meeting to answer questions.
