parks dept. has finally decided on a date for the community meeting to discuss the future of the firepit November 5th, 7-9pm at BF Day Elementary in fremont. 3921 Linden (just south of the world famous buckaroo tavern!)

sounds positive, i see the words "replacement" and "recreate" used. hopefully the area will get back to a bit of normalcy. Possibly some sort of device to stop the ability to have huge raging infernos, or as they are commonly called, AID's (Anti Ito Device)

SEATTLE PARKS TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING
ON FREMONT FIRE CIRCLE REPLACEMENT OPTIONS

Seattle Parks and Recreation will host a public meeting to discuss the replacement of the Fremont Fire Circle at Fremont Canal Park. The meeting will be held on Monday, Nov. 5, from 7 – 9 p.m. at B.F. Day Elementary School, 3921 Linden Ave. N.

This meeting will be hosted by a facilitator who will help the community and Seattle Parks brainstorm ideas about how a fire circle can be re-created and how the community can enjoy fires at the site in a way that fits within existing fire regulations.

In June 2007, in response to a Fire Marshal’s violation letter, Seattle Parks fenced off the fire circle area. After the fencing and signs were repeatedly burned, Seattle Parks flattened the 4-foot burn area and berm as a temporary measure to stop fires at this site and to avoid a $1,000-a-day fine from the Seattle Fire Department.

A representative from the Seattle Fire Marshal’s Office will be at the meeting to answer questions.

For more information, please contact North Parks Resource Manager Royal Alley-Barnes at (206) 684-4561 or royal.alley-barnes@seattle.gov

this is a community meeting with the city officials directly, not a meeting with the fremont art wackos like we all went to a few months back. while those people may be in attendance, they most certainly wont be in control.
