Update: This is tomorrow people! Here's the unplanned plan.

Folks who want to do this meet at the ferry terminal for the 6:45 ferry to Bremelo. Bring your prefunk materials with you, since there won't be anything worthwhile on the ferry. Crossing time is 60min, so we'll get there at 7:45.

On the dark side of the water, we'll use Lee's provided route out to the airport. Basically, we go directly there. Bring your lights and reflective stuff, this isn't friendly territory.

If all goes well, we'll make it to the diner before 9 (famous last words: "It's only 8 miles") and gaze in wonder at the beards. If all does not go well, either I'll be lynched by angry motorists, or all of you, or both.

Afterwards, we meet up with everyone else and tell them how awesome it was.

See you motherbitches tomorrow.

----

I've talked with a few folks about this (Ben, Pete Jr, Joby...), and now it's time to make a ride.

Tues, Nov 13th, 7-9pm, the Washington Whisker Club is having their monthly meeting at the Airport Diner at the Bremerton Airport.
Ferry -> airport -> amazing beards & mustaches. Prefunk on the ferry?

What more could you ask for?

Their website and calendar. These guys are professionals, competing and placing in the World Beard and Mustache Competition. Let's raise a glass with them.

I'm all for anything that incorporates a ferry ride.

On the topic of whiskers though, has any one of you other whisker wearing weirdos find that on cold nights your beard collects your condensed breath/dewy air?

Lately I've found a lot of non-sweat water on my face pubes and I'm hopin' I'm not alone.

Just two thoughts about this ride. Ordinarily I'd highly support West Sound .83 rides. But...

1. The Bremerton Airport isn't in Bremerton. It's south, near Shelton. This implies you'll be riding on Route 3 for at least a while. Trust me, this is not a good thing. Oh yeah, and Shelton is a bit of a ride from Bremerton.

2. Ferry food and drink is EXPENSIVE. And they'll only serve you alcohol for 15 minutes ( halfway across or 30 minutes from landing, whichever is longer). Accordingly, you may want to preprefunk.

1) we rode on highway three for ben country. to be fair, it was a weekend morning and we were relatively sober, but i think we can handle it. plus, it's only 8 miles from the ferry. what could go wrong?

2) i don't think anybody has ever bought booze from the ferry. mixers, perhaps, but we tend to be personaly well-supplied with things in discreet nalgenes. it's a good idea to be prepared in such a way.

this won't really jive with the normal 7:30+ from red square departure though. are we going to aim for the 6:45 ferry?

shelton is WAY WAY south of the bremerton airport. think like a forty minute car ride. the bremerton airport is actually several miles south of gorst, just outside of belfair, where i went to high school. but you will be on highway three.

enjoy some epic hills gentlemen.

The airliner diner is near the Kitsap airport.

I routed the trip, and it is 8 miles from the ferry terminal, flat until the last two miles, during which we will gain 450 feet or so.

Sounds interesting, and I am interested; I've never been on a ferry and looks like some interesting riding.

My one concern would be my tiny mexi-beard, but whatever I'm not growing my dew-catcher any larger.

Indeed, and it's in 2 days. So, the wørd on the street is that we'll need to leave early and fast to get there in time. So, I propose we have a group of hardcore mustache aficionados meet up at the ferry terminal for a ferry a bit before 7. We'll ride and then behold the awesome mustache power in Bremerton, before coming back and meeting up with anybody else doing a normal Tuesday ride.

I'll look up schedules, routes, etc tomorrow at work and post further details, unless somebody beats me to it.

Who ever has the most rear lights and reflective stuff ride in the back. Highway 3 has a shoulder but it has speed-crazed automorons hell bent on gittin thar that really don't much care about road trash on bikes except for the hassle of scraping them off afterwards. It's a dark road on a bike. I've ridden it at 11:30pm on a friday, very existential, not for the weak of heart.

Coming back into Gorst you can pick up to 35mph or so but if the wind is from the east or south, it's gets a little spooky on HY3. Gorst into Bremerton you've got a narrow overpass, but it's got good lighting.

Not to intrude on your club but, make sure you know what you're getting into....it ain't Seattle.

Bicycle & Adult Rider (age 19 - 64) : $7.70
Bicycle & Youth Rider (age 6 - 18) : $6.40
Bicycle & Sr/Disabled Rider (age 65 & over) : $4.35

And apparently you can buy tickets and print them at home to save yourself some trouble once at the ferry terminal.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. I suppose we can just take our sweet time getting back, and not worry about meeting up with the folks who opt out of The Whisker Club.

There's also the Southworth ferry at 11:05, if we can book ass the 16 miles that way. Of course, if we miss that, then the next is 12:25...

We ferry in 3!

Tentative schedule:

6:45: Board ferry
7:45: Leave ferry
7:45-8:45: Bike for 8 miles! (~8 mph)
8:45-9:15: Beards!
9:15-10:45: Bike for 16 miles! (~10 mph)
11:05: Board ferry

I suppose as long as we're careful and avoid crashes this should be doable, though we really won't be able to spend much time at our destination. 30 minutes flat, in and out, just to be safe...

I think he meant he was IN with a capitol HILL.

For Ben, and the others that missed out, we were invited back to attend their meetings any month, and encouraged to submit membership applications. Or be members of the fanclub for those who can't grow their own facial hair.

Raz, let us know when the group photo is up, eh?

photo is sorta blurry. Given the circumstances, that may be a good thing.

I'll get the pic up later today.

Man, that was ridiculous. We should head out there again.
