Let's get this off the thread-jack:
Alex wants to brew us 10 gal of beer following up with the commitment to remove ad-words from the forums. He needs 6 weeks to let it ferment and an event to get it drunken.
What dates & locations work for people? Expect probably ~50-75 people when considering hosting.
Last year was at Elysian Fields and it worked really well, the year before was at the CIP and it was a bit cramped.

by asshole fiat credits that i earned in the other thread, i'm saying friday: 12/28/2007. if you've got a strenuous objection to that date, email me.
white elephant gift exchange, beer drinking, and holiday merriment!
also, as a reminder, there is no greenlake race the last friday of december. the "last chance race" and race of champions will 99% likely be on the thursday night ride on 12/20.
if you won greenlake this year, you should be circling your calendar - that'll be your opportunity to actually keep the awesome "bottle opener and cog" trophy for the rest of your days.

75 people? Were you planning on collecting a 1$ cover at the door?
There were about 12 the first year and maybe 20-25 last year.

I can't promise to make 10 gallons of beer between now and 12/28 due to lots of busy weekends for the next month. So don't assume that I'm supplying the booze and a bar might be a better location.
If it isn't at a bar then I'll supply at least 5 gallons of beer (Elysian or homebrew).

I say do it on the 21st or 22nd. The week between xmas and new years is always jam packed and i'd like to make it this year.
I was actually hoping to do another race in a park like the psyclocross race a couple years back.
And 50-75 seems pretty generous, i'd say more like 20-30.

The 21st and 28th are equally up in the air for me and I personally have no preference. However, there's a lot of dirty, dirty hippie types that have infiltrated us that might be dancing around some sort of winter solstice Tofurkey or something on the 21st - something to consider.
Remember folks, holidays are serious business!

date whiners, start a poll or something. i'm guessing about equally as many people can't make it on the 21st as couldn't make it on the 28th.
the other option is trying to do a megaevent on thursday the 20th with champion racing, crazy riding, and holiday partying?

the 20th is my company xmas party, which I would skip for this event. Post HappyZombieJesus Day would be more ideal, so as people can dump stuff they got from family members they don't want or need.

I'll be in town the weekend before christmas: it's my birthday on sun the 23rd. the week after, probably not.
Also: 21st is the solstice. HIPPIE BONFIRE TIME FUCK YEAH!

This wins my (assumingly not coveted) gold star award for best post of today.
Also, by posting this random thought, I am helping this thread reach its destiny of 8 pages. That may be a low-ball estimate considernig we have approximately 60 days to beat this into supreme dead horse status. The thread from last Thursday's ride reached 4 pages in just 5 days.
Have the party whenever - all the days sound good. Bonus if you hold it on my birthday. I will buy beers! :D

Tentative brewing date of Dec 1st (that is a Saturday).
If we don't brew something too crazy then we'll be able to serve it on December 28th. Barleywine isn't an option, IPA would be, a really strong IPA would be borderline. Something with a starting gravity of 1.083 is probably doable as long as we make it hoppy and not too dark.
I'll start a new thread if this date firms up. If you are interested in brewing keep this date clear.

Agreed. Jeff, you're brilliant.
Laura, when's your birthday? (You don't buy drinks on your birthday.)
Lee, I'm a stupid hippie and my family celebrates Solstice, so I vote for not Solstice. I bet Brandon will be back in town for this, whenever it ends up being.
I like the idea of making it a mega epic night where we have the blast of the century beginning with a gnarly ride, moving to Greenlake and ending up at Beths. Or something like that.
I'll probably be at this bash whereever it goes, whenever it is. It's going to be amazing, no doubt.
Are we on our second page yet?

Let's bring this back into considering the twentieth of December, the evening of the "last chance race." This would negate any hippie schedule conflicts and should closer to prior as to when people would be leaving town; the downside to this may be having too much in one day, which would be problem for all the non protein eating hippies who've only been eating holiday granola.
Of course this is just a toss out at mediation as I'm fine with the twenty-eighth day of December, by decree of the Lantius, being the set date for this gathering of holiday revelers and bicycle enthusiasts.

the ONLY way to get anything done in this group is for someone to just pick a day, a time, and a place. if people can make it, fine. if they cant, so be it.
having 50 people try and do it via a forum is a nightmare.

fuck you guys, the 20th is the viz-a-bility-thon (do i need to get all bubbly and efferevescent about this? think blinky lights galore, J with a searchlight strapped to the Nishki, all of us wrapped in tin foil and gawd-awful brilliant colours. see also: glow-in-the-dark-G&Ts).
the 21st i'll be busy getting epic with the prom queen, J, and a bon fire, plus some.
28th or none.

I thought SeƱor-Ito's comment basically stated that Lantius' fiat had established the 28th as the date and to deal if you didn't like it cause folk are going to be missing either way.

the solution is very simple. a poll.
we'll tally the votes up democratically, and then i, as your president, will disregard them all and chose the 21st.
also, would it be fucking possible to have a ride that isn't themed.
cause fuck it's lame.
