Apparently there is an alley cat on Saturday starting at Stumptown Coffee. A benefit for Bikes to Rawanda.

Anyone else heard about and/or planning on attending?

Info I've seen:

Starts at 4:20

Auction at 7:00

Party at 9:00

This is all I know.

quoth;

the course(ideas here, have not been finalized)....

start at stumptown coffee roasters (12th and madison), down an 8 or 12oz french press coffee
cup cake royal/ verite coffee madrona, down a cup cake
lindas tavern, down a 16oz rainier
counter balance, pick up a package to deliver at next stop???
elysian fields, down a shot o' jaggermeister
panama hotel, eat a vegan doughnut
east lake and __?__. in front of red robin. sign a memorial book for the fella who lost his life here a few weeks ago. pick up a burlap bag (50-75 lbs) of coffee to deliver to finish line
finish stumptown coffee roasters (12th and madison)

looks like fun. I'll strongly consider attending.

I'm interested just for hauling the sack of coffee. Drinking the coffee, not so much, racing everybody up capitol hill with an extra 50lb? Hell, i do that all the time anyway.

I'm definitely going to go, but I'm afraid of getting lost. I totally don't know this city as well as I pretend to, and I've never done an Alley Cat.

tl;dr: Seven wants to go, but he's a sloppy wet pussy.

You tend to complain alot, maybe you should change your handle to "David the Jaded Hipster" and give Ben a run for his money.

There are brochures for the Bikes to Rwanda Organization at all cafes that serve Stumptown coffee.

Cafe Verite.
Stumptown on Pine.
Stumptown on 12th and Madison
Cafe Neptune on 85th and Greenwood.

Probably some other coffeeshops, but these are the ones that come to mind.

I really resent the use of the phrase "sloppy wet pussy" to mean something negative. How is that a bad thing?

The key word here is sloppy... I see where you were going with your point, but very important: sloppy.

Replace "sloppy" with "neat," or just omit it and the world is a better place.

I use it in reference to being soft, wimpy, and easily penetrated.

I'll be there. I may not be in top competition shape, but I'll be there, I'd hate to miss out on an alleycat. I just took off the splint for my middle finger. It smells like death and I still can't move it through the full range of motion. As a few of you noticed, my left handlebar is fucked up, so I may not even have front brakes by Saturday.

This stumptown place is roughly up on 12th/spring right?

Seven, there are maps of the city you can get. I totally didn't know the city for the Safety First Alleycat, but we all got maps and marked 'em up before the race. I'd totally never been to Queen Anne or above Golden Gardens, but you run into people and urban orienteer around 'til you find shit. So, take care of your sloppy wetness, and once that's out of your system, mount your bike for a long dry uncomfortable RIDE!

Yeah, I've got some maps, I'm just nervous that if I'm all reading maps I'll fall way behind. I don't really care though, I'm going to go and it's going to rock. Maybe I'll just draft your ass the whole way.

That totally worked for me. I followed Koos until he wussed out on the hill east of Golden Gardens.

I was actually lost at that point. I had totally gotten the wrong place marked on the map for the coffee shop, but when I wussed out and carried my bike up the stairs, I found myself right in front of the coffee shop (where rob was just sitting down for a blood pressure check)! I navigate by luck and dead reckoning!

Apparently, since I'm working the Monday holiday,I get Saturday off. So I'm totally in. Except my race route is going to go something like:

start at stumptown coffee roasters (12th and madison), down an 8 or 12oz french press coffee
->
cup cake royal/ verite coffee madrona, down a cup cake
->
lindas tavern, down a 16oz rainier
->
Swedish medical center...
<Strike>
counter balance, pick up a package to deliver at next stop??? elysian fields, down a shot o' jaggermeister...</strike>

Here's hoping the organisers offer a teetotaler category.

can we hit up the checkpoints in any order? Cause that would make this a whole hell of a lot easier.

I like alley cats with order in the checkpoints. That way I get to see who's ahead and who's behind.

Yeah, I like it that way too. I like being able to actually see where the competition is as well. So if you see someone hit a point before you, you know you've got to beat his ass to the next one.

For the record, I don't care how hip it is, that Stumptown coffee shop sucks mountains of balls. They don't know what the hell they're doing, they will straight up forget relatively important ingredients in drinks (My girlfriend and I both got mochas this morning with no fucking chocolate in them), and on top of that, they're so fucking slow that it's actually FASTER to just go a little bit out of our way and go to Bauhaus. Everyone was saying how fucking great they were because "In Portland this" and "In Portland that." Well this ain't fucking shit ass Portland.

Here in Seattle, we have standards.

If I ever go there again and they fuck my shit up, I'm just going to throw it right in the garbage and say "Go back to Portland. Give us a call when you're ready for the big leagues."
