Things to note: Velazquez just got busted for DUI: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/335969_venus19.html
I have no problem with getting drunk, obviously, but driving drunk I have a big problem with, especially when there's so many other options to get your drunk ass home.
Remember, vote the opposite of whoever the times/pi like for the port.
Alec Fisken is the port commissioner who managed to blow the whistle on the ridiculous payoff to the previous retiring CEO, and his opponent is a long term lobbyist for port related business. The P-I endorsement reads more as endorsing the more establishment figure rather than as a dis-endorsement of the incumbent.

I hate all of you for rejecting Prop 1 and approving Tim Eyman's initiative. Fuck you all. I fucking hate you.

Are you nuts? Let's pay to destroy the arboretum, cover highways on the east side and expand lanes all over the city? No thanks. Light rail is in progress. It'll get funded. We didn't need to swallow all that bullshit highway mentality to get the transit.

Yeah, I don't know what was up with that. Suck.

I wanted my transit so bad that I voted for the gross roads. Good luck getting any light rail package passed where the minority now rules.

I'm bummed Venus The Drunk didn't win. She was hardcore pro-surface/transit option for the viaduct. And wanted to make 3rd Ave downtown a permanently car-free street. If she'd only taken her own advice and stayed OUT OF HER CAR on that fateful night in Ballard, she might've had a shot.
And I agree: Once Sound Transit's up and running in 2009, an expansion will get funded. Hopefully without a roads tie-in. And hopefully before I'm six feet under.

The arboretum was already destroyed --- note the teensy remnant of it here. Those red blobs are Yoshino cherry trees, the ones that didn't get transplanted in the quad. I would presume the current 520 footprint near the Montlake Bridge would be returned to the Arboretum should they build the Pacific interchange option, since it would no longer be used by the highway, so I don't understand this whole 'Arboretum gets destroyed' argument. MOHAI's lot, too, since they're moving to SLU.

Like nearly all of Eyman's craptastic initiatives, 960 is unconstitutional.

What does Eyman have to do to get discredited? Why can't he rack up a DUI?

amen. I voted for VTD on her transit policy strength. There's an undercurrent of Very Powerful/Respected People passionate about global warming & crunching down on the SOV who could move some big things along if they worked together. Frustratingly, we're a reactive society, it's going to take drowing a major US city (I vote for Miami/Dade County) to get anything done.

Yeah, I voted against Prop 1 because it just did not tax cars enough and it did not provide enough transit.
However, I am partially discouraged that it did not pass... as I suspect that the reason it did not pass was *not* due to the reasons I voted no... but because it added .8% to vehicle taxes. So the car people just want roads and don't want to pay for them.
At least.. well.. at least we won't have more roads.
apparently county transp. officials were depressed about that in a meeting today...
eh.
I suspect they are all car people anyway.
