So wher do you all think you'll be at about 20:30?
That when I get out of work and I already have my bike with me. I may be able to catch up depending on where you all are. Is is a mad dash for SEATAC, or are we all drinking some place in route?

i figure we should get towards seatac to pick up brandon pretty directly. if we stop for beer, he'll be sitting around the airport for a couple hours, which is the lame. if we're early: airport bar.

His flight comes in around 9:30, is it really going to take us more than 2 hours of riding to get there? I somehow doubt it. Plus: Airport bar = inside security.

Nothing like paying 8 bucks for a beer...
correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think there's a bar outside of security at sea-tac.

All valid points.
If you all go straight there, then I'm out as I'll never catch up. If you all opt to kcik it for a bit somewhere around Seattle, I'll probably be able to make it.

I've never seen one, just vending machines full of stale candy and chips.

you've got that backwards. you're one person, and i bet dimes to dollars you could easily catch up with us. or just ride south and meet us when we actually get brandon and head back north.
we don't need to drink at the bar IN the airport, there's a hotel across the street.
Meaning that your mouth is not sewn shut and you have a full flask?

I jumped ship near the Renton airport (wtf?) and headed north via the Lake Washington clockwise loop. On the Lake Washington Blvd switchbacks, a car passes me, then stops. I wait a second, then realize they are asking for directions to 520. Think, think, think. Oh yeah, you just keep on Lake Washington Blvd.
But they were confused by the switchbacks, and stopped again at the top where there is a Y. Fine, I told them, follow me. Mad sprint to Madison, where they could have easily passed me and gone on, but they let me keep leading them on the mad sprint up past the Arboretum, where I waved them onto the eastbound onramp.
There's a story you won't see in the P-I soundoffs.

At the County Line.

What a fun ride.
There were lots of mechanicals, and a few wipe outs; but I think everyone secretly enjoyed the breaks for drinkin beers and the various flasks even though they won't admit it.
I got all the way to my building, and then turned around to get food and all of a sudden, I had a rear flat. Totall balls!
Cone head! That shit was heavy!

Let me be the first to say that this ride does not rate at an epic scale for .83 rides. Let me list evidence supporting my argument:
1. Half of you left the County Line Tavern (in South Park) while there was still 2 pitchers half full of beer.
2. We didn't go to the SODO bread dumpster when it was 2 blocks off our route
3. My fifth of Vodka still has alcohol in it
However, this ride was good overall for the following reasons:
1. We biked along the light rail line and light rail makes me happy
2. We stopped for the first time in my .83 history somewhere (anywhere) in South Park
3. I got my safety glasses!

I ooze love all over you people. Let's disasterously pick up people at the airport more often.
Yeay bikes! Yeay booze! Yeay .83!

Definitely a fun ride. I had more or less been planning on catching the 18 downtown as a I HATE crossing the Ballard Bridge by myself with the Fremont Bridge closed, and then of course had my first ever Seattle wipeout in Pioneer Square a mile or so from where I caught the bus. All I can say about wiping out in the rain is yay gloves and yay knickers: very little damage to the epidermal expanse. My bike's bifters seemed to take the brunt of it, but I think they just need to be unclamped and adjusted back into place.
When the last of us left Country Line there was half-full GLASSES of beer. WTF??
Now off to get coffee and an eggel from Java Bean and then to work on 4 hours of sleep.

that was a great fun, I've always wanted to ride UP 180th. The ride north was fun, especially David pulling out the bottle of Night Owl. I highly enjoyed riding with all of you, even with the crashes and mechanicals. Welcome back Brandon.
What/who broke down after flying down the hill out of SeaTac? That took forever!
I hated to leave the County Line but I absolutely had to so I wouldn't be a corpse at work today. I took a great line on getting home, via the transfer station and W.Marginal. the pavement was clean and clear, a brisk tailwind aiding my poor tired legs.

It's a sad day when I stay completely sober and just want to rip everyone apart, I was not drunk nor did I drink any thing last night. I haven't had a beer or anything since the breakfest ride. The scarry thing is that I only remember rage. And why the fuck was everything in black and white, no color, everything was 2d and not 3d. no depth no clarity. everything makes since when i'm drunk and it's nice, yet I don't want to drink. WHAT THE FUCK, WHY THE FUCK, HOW THE FUCK
I'm going to Mount Ranier this after noon and diging a snow cave. I need to climb. Only there do things ever make since. Life begins at 10,000ft.

Obviously its an unconscious manifestation of your desire to recreate the world in 3D. Turn you head sideways, squint, and the post(s) pop out of the screen!

on my solo ride home i went down eastlake. i was followed by a white van.
i dropped into my speed gear and stance and mashed it down to ZymoGenetics. By the time the van got to me there were 3 guys hanging out the windows whoopin and hollarin at me...i thought i was gonna be a moving target or road burger.
but no
they were cheering me on as they were pacing me and matching my speed...i was doing over 45 down that hill they said!
fuck yeah, speed for teh WIN!
p.s.
point 84 is teh lame...way to coward out fuckers.

Yeh, I dunno, when we said "epic!" I don't think we meant Kat crashing twice in something like a mile--are you okay, Kat? was worried about you!
I'm sure all of you are feeling those soft-tissue injuries now, and if not, you will be by tomorrow morning. Just in time for the weekend, yay!
I had a fantastic time, despite my stuffiness from this ass-tastic head cold. :( I wish I could have smelled all the fantastic autumn leaves! It's shaping up to be a really beautiful autumn.
Did anyone put the Methed-out tune-butchers out of their misery? Cos you should have. whoa god.

It likely would have taken 2 hours or less if we hadn't headed south via that somewhat ass-tastic route. Between that nasty stretch of shoulder that nearly ate Sketchy alive and climbing up 108th, I'm surprised it didn't take longer.
Btw people, when the shoulder is filled with debris and we're on a two lane road, take a lane. The huge semis rushing past two feet to your left won't kill you, probably.

while spinning up 180th, I had a chuckle;
"I like to go through Kent, although it involves a ridiculous hill climb/walk to get out of the valley and up to the bluff the airport is on. Actually, via Kent is a nicer way to get home. "
Hello, my name is Chris and I'll be your Prophet for this flight...

Yeah, I should have remembered, south = mechanicals, wipeouts, and assorted other delays.
Too many rubber-side-up issues, too many wrong turns, but all in all, I can't say I didn't have a fucking blast. Nice job (burly)Kat on the wipeout, that was pretty fucking crazy, glad you didn't break your neck. Cass, thanks for getting the flat on the way home, I think many of us needed the breather. Glad we all made it home in one piece. And again: I Love you fuckers.
Oh yeah: Welcome home, Brandon!
