They say pets are training for children.

Does that mean i get to duct tape children's tails to the floor? Fatherhood is going to be awesome.

Being a papa is the coolest thing in the WORLD, but if ya think your busy now, ya aint seen shit yet. Regardless, i'd never go back to not being a daddy.

canigetta hell yeah?

edit

if your kids have tails you can do anything ya want with 'em...it says so in the birth certificate!

Why am I not at all surprised that you expect your children to have tails?

I bet UW Student Health has heavily discounted condoms. Someone with access to that should check it out. :) I can help sponsor.

AND I want to help with t-shirts. Either help lead or help follow. PM me t-shirt people ...

I would like a "get ran over by the SLUT"

henry's already got a pretty solid soccer mom car, and a good job for supporting a family. maybe he's trying to tell us something?

Plus that house could fit octuplets, easy.

cafepress will print in qty of 1, so we can easily do a few variations if people have different preferences.

This might be old news to some, but I got this email from SDOT yesterday. My response to them was that I'm not holding my breath awaiting the 9th Ave conversion OVER A YEAR FROM NOW. Oh, that's such "good news"...

"Thank you for your e-mail regarding the South Lake Union streetcar tracks. We share your concern for providing safe routes for bicyclists.

I have some good news to report regarding north/south bicycle travel in the South Lake Union area. In late 2008 or early 2009, we will be converting 9th Avenue N from a one-way to a two-way street with bike lanes. In the interim, there are other north/south options available including the bicycle lanes on Dexter Avenue N. You may want to visit our web site at http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/bikemaps.htm for more route ideas and other information.

We agree with your belief that riding between tracks is not advised and that where the tracks are in the curb lane, it may be advisable to ride one lane to the left of the curb lane. As a cyclist, you have the right to use this lane under this circumstance. As stated in Section 11.44.040 of the Seattle Municipal Code:

“Every person operating a bicycle upon a roadway at a speed slower than the normal and reasonable flow of motor vehicle traffic thereon shall ride as near to the right side of the right through lane as is safe, except as may be appropriate while preparing to make or while making turning movements, or while overtaking and passing another bicycle or vehicle proceeding in the same direction.”

The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is interested in installing warning signs as you describe along the streetcar corridor. At this point, we are having discussions about what the guidelines for placement would be. We are unaware of any rubber flanges designed with the constant use of a streetcar in mind. The rubber flanges we have tried in the past along active rail corridors were destroyed after a week of use.

Thank you again for writing. Please feel free to contact the Pedestrian and Bicycle Program directly at walkandbike@seattle.gov or by calling (206) 684-7583 if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Douglas Cox
Pedestrian and Bicycle Program
Seattle Department of Transportation "

[cross posting from this http://www.point83.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4946 thread]

Here is the "I [pic] Seattle" version.

http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=2075714051&size=l

So who wants which version, and what quantity?
If we all go in as a group, we can save on shipping and handling.
I'll put in an order on Monday to give people a little time to decide and we can still have them before the protest ride.

Okay kids, the press release is posted and sent. You can find a copy in several formats here. You can also find posters, flyers, and some of Kevin's sarcastic witty copy, as well as a link to his original wiki.

I have that whole sleep-thing to do and I still have 'the-cold-that-lingers-for-a-month', so I'm out on the Bike Advisory Board Meeting tomorrow as I have other errands that I neglected when I was sick(er).

Behave and get the word spread.

Word has it Vulcan emailed David Hiller today in a tizzy because of the potentially MASSIVE blow to them PR-wise, despite the fact that they scoffed at his earlier warnings/requests.

So: let's raise the shit-storm they fear.
We feed on corporate fear, kids. And bacon. and uh, kittens.

Awesome work folks! The ride is only a week away now, let's get a wider audience buzz going. If you see a place that's begging for a flier (bike cage at your home/office, UW student center, etc.), please toss one up.

I just want a bike lane, and for the city to not stack the deck against me and my well-being. They've made Eastlake, maybe the easiest existant route to the Udist and other points NE a 10 block death trap.

uh, no. why would I go west to head east? This whole neighborhood is getting worked over, the cycling community should have a legitimate voice and conisderation in the redevelopment of the infrastructure so we don't have to pay to have it done twice, now and when it's "complete" and is found to be a mess.

I LOL'ed at the Slog troll. Any publicity is good publicity. Speaking of which, free beer to the first person that can tell me where they saw an advertisement for the ride while on their bike. I gotta know if the hobo I paid to put up fliers did a good job or not.

By the time I talked to the reporter, he had so many varied people contact him that he had enough information for an article four times as long.

This is going to panic the SDOT streetcar project manager and some folks at Vulcan. I'd love to be a fly on their wall right now.

"Warner said he has seen a couple of cyclists fall during train testing and that he allows extra stopping distance behind bicycles in case one gets pitched."

So a single driver during a few recent training runs has already seen a "couple of cyclists fall"? It makes me wonder how many SLUT victims there have been. Several dozen maybe?

i just got an email from a fellow who shatter his elbow on the tracks, will likely not have full functionality of that arm ever again.
the picture he sent is rather wince-full.

eeek!

yeh, my best guess is in the dozens upon dozens upon dozens at this point. jesus-fucking-christ-on-a-cracker. i think my biggest fear is that someone will fall and be killed rather than grossly injured.

get the word out about the ride. can't ride? write a letter. write two. write six. leave a flaming bag of uh...sterno, on Vulcan and Paul Allen's collective doorstep.

you know, the usual.
