On Friday I'm gathering a group of people (hopefully) for a chill ride. Originally I was thinking all girls, no hills as it's kind of a meet and greet for Pinkzilla who many of us have been forum conversing with. But I believe the more the merrier, so...
I was thinking meet at Whiskey Bar between 6 & 7, then ride for three or four hours, making a couple stops at say, bars, parks, you know .83 style only relaxed.
Ultimately I was planning on steering the ride to Georgetown where my old house, Buddhaful, is throwing a free warehouse party.
Anyone game?

Sounds like an excellent chance to bring the gf out on for her first Point83 ride. She doesn't have anything now, but the life of a stagehand is an unpredictable one. If she can avoid getting a gig, we'll both be there, if she gets snatched up by the evil Union Commies, I'll probably be there.
And with longer, louder socks, dammit. God my legs were cold tonight.

This is would be a nice way for me to start riding with you guys.
Where is the Whiskey Bar?

Whiskey Bar:
2000 Second Ave
Seattle, WA 98121
Phone: (206) 443-4490
The Whiskey Bar is 2nd and Virginia, near Westlake Center. This is a typical .83 prefunk, for those who will end up riding with us regularly.
Teressaj, Zilla, etc, this will be a grand ride for those who have been wanting to ride with us but feel intimidated by our speed and hills. If you know anyone else that rides, but might not ride .83 tell them to come too. Though please, no uber slow pokes. We'll be letting you mostly set the pace, but still not thinkin Slow Sunday here.
So please come to have fun, drink drinks and ride bikes!

I really wish I could make it out for this, but I have to pick my sister up near the airport at around 9:30, meaning I need to be in Ravenna (where the car that I am using is) by 8:30 or so. And, I also need to be sober (unfortunately). :/
I may be able to make it to the prefunk, but without the funk. We'll see.

I'm all for non-slow as possible for me. Slow just reminds me of my newer and (lovely but not as nice as I like) easier gear ratio which makes me spin more. I miss my old cadence.
Hmmm... I'm not sure yet if this marks a perfect occasion to show you all my shoes:
They're hard as hell to clip in with so they slow me down a bit... but I can still manage fast in them. 7 out of 70 the one and only time I wore them in an alleycat. Who else wants to wear some heels and fancy this ride up?
Did you make'em yourself? Sounds like a project for the next Stitch'n'bitch!

These were made by my friend Karl as part of a going away list of stuff I always wanted to do but never did. You have to look for shoes that have enough coverage on the top so your foot doesn't come out when pulling up on the hills/sprints, and you have to make sure there's a lot of platform on the bottom of the shoe.
The shoes came new from Macy's for 89 bucks so maybe they'll still have them? Yup:
All you have to do is drill them through. Although I wish he had added a steel plate. I worry about ripping the bolts out sometimes if I'm pushing it. Pushing it real good.

This was one of my major qualms in the halloween alleycat we did. I wanted so badly to wear my heels that totally made the costume but had to change into them for the after party.

Don't worry, I think Ben is just having blurry flashbacks of the mustache ride he went on last night. Reconciling your own homosexuality can cause you to lash out at others for no reason.
It's a phase, kinda like the terrible twos but with more whiskey and facial hair.

Is the plan still to keep it easy? I'm trying to bring my roommate who only recently got a bike. He's kind of apprehensive about coming, so I was hoping it would still be a pretty easy ride.

The gf isn't coming, dammit. She had work until 2am or so last night, and then had to get up and be at work at 8am this morning.
If you guys are still riding, I'm still inclined to come, but dammit I my unlucky/fucktard streak better end: two wipeouts in a week, a flat last night, and this morning on the way to work I almost got hit by a car that blew through a stop sign and then almost ran into some guy under the Aurora Bridge who appeared out of nowhere and wandered across the Burke as I was coming around a blind corner.
A nice, mellow, relatively event-free ride is perhaps just what the doctor ordered.

Yes Yes and Yes. The ride will start at 7. Come PreFunk At The Whiskey! We wont be in Georgetown til later though, as that is the ultimate destination, so eat some before the ride.
And by easy we don't mean SUPER easy, but we won't be hitting hills.
Vaticdart. This WILL end your shittastic streak that began last Thursday with your first Seattle wipeout. It ends last night with your flat. This will be a fun ride. If someone gets a flat we won't sit around bitching about incompetence. We'll be helping each other to get back on the road.
We're gonna meander around seeing how long we can go without hitting a hill and see how much of Seattle we can see this way.
I would like to come if it isn't nasty and rainy out. We dont have a heater at the moment to help dry out clothes/warm up cold girls, so I'm pussing out if its wet.

Anyhoo, if it's a drill press you want, I've got the goods. Stitch 'N Bitch dude, Stitch 'N Bitch.
Also, I've got access to a full sized mill and C'nC lathe now.
I doubt I'll be able to make it tonight (please inform Ben) but there is an outside possibility of me showing up with some company, we shall see.

Do tell? I have some plans for shoe conversions, but I wasn't wanting to shell out for the McMaster Carr steel shoe inserts.

Can one get in the queue for projects? I have a few small things that I'd like to have made (and I'd like to spend a little time on a lathe to see if I want to buy my own).

you know if the weather was too shitty we could just go for a shorter ride and go to a bar and/or my house for some Friday night fun.

It'll be up to the group if it's rainy, but that may be an alternate plan. We're riding tonight. That is for sure.
Ultimately I WILL be leading any willing parties to the Buddhaful warehouse party, 'Groove Drive' in Georgetown. These are good kids, it's free and it should prove to be a great show with some filthy fuckin beats and dance-mania.
BTW. We are all internet geeks.
