A Note From a Local Seattle Cyclist:
A photography book about the Seattle fixed gear phenomena
— Hey... I am now collecting info on current Seattle-based fixed gear riders for a photo book I will be putting together over the winter.
The project will contain beautiful black and white images (by the talented photographer Brenton Salo) of local cyclists and their whips. Each page will contain pics and the rider's name, age, occupation, bike frame, etc.
If you or a buddy you know ride a fixed gear bike (brakes or not) and would like to be part of this project, please send an email with yer contact info to: aaron@edgeofdoom.com

funny, i was just reading about a movie along the same lines.
"Untitled Kate Hudson/Owen Wilson Romantic Comedy Vehicle"
Another in an endless series of light romantic comedies set in a picturesquely trendy city in which a series of misunderstandings eventually brings two people together.
Product(s):
Bianchi; R.E. Load messenger bags, top tube pads, and clothing
Placement:
Zooey Deschanel plays Kate Hudson’s sarcastic and brooding fixed-gear-riding roommate. In one scene she comes home and tells Hudson about the crush she has on the local celebrity messenger and alleycat champion (played by Adam Brody from the “O.C.”), explaining that, “He’s really hot. He rides a Pista Concept, his sneakers match his rims, and his dreadlocks smell like kitty litter.” Then she sighs, pulls the hood of her R.E.Load sweatshirt over her head, and does a big bong hit.

Do you wonder if Zooey Deschanel was ever called Dewey Decimal growing up?

My fixed gear has been known to kill other fixed gears.
It's also been known to send me into emergency surgeries ... it must be EPIC.

oh balls, yes. fixed gear folding bike ftw? let's see how many different types of fixed gear bike we can get in there - the northwest is all about steppin' outside the norms, not conformity.

mmmmm sweet sweet gears, and that happy CA-Lick sound they make...
though I'd hardly call fixed gear bikes a "phenomena", it's more of a fad...

I've been riding your mom, does that count?

I have a fixed gear folding Pocket Rocket in my pocket, fun and mean green in color. Can I play your raindeer games (shiny red nose for sure)?

i'm telling you, i may have been "totally wrong" about three speed internal hubs with coaster brake being the new fixed gear, but i think folding fixed gears are the new fixed gear!

yes, but my mom is more the type to ride Bob. Remember that Futurama episode where they go to the planet of Amazonia and all the men get crushed to death? It's like that, I hear. My dad is a superhero.

This is the second time in as many weeks I've heard you brag about your Mom's sexual prowess. What gives?

I'm not sure that's what he was refering to here ...

Touring bikes (specifically the Surly LHT in blue) seem to be the new fixed gear to me.
I can pretend to still own the fixed Swift Folder that Lee is borrowing from my friend Larry. I did built it...
