Sooo, uh, Foo. Thanks so fucking much for the rub it in your face, you can't ride, I'm standing in Westlake call. I really needed that while I was sitting in front of the TV watching cops at my parents house because I'm going to fucking kill myself.

People always bitch about how long it takes other people to change flats, but I've never seen a flat on a ride where it didn't take at least 10 - 15 minutes to change.
That honestly wasn't very long compared to some of the flats I've seen on our rides when people gash their tires, have some sort of equipment issue, don't check their tires for debris, whatever. Flats happen.
My wipeout 1/4 mile later was fucking dumb on my part, but that delayed us for less than 5 minutes. Not really worth whining over.
Shit happens, we wait, and we can drink more while we do.

i think you missed that spc. sean wiped out in the same place that you did and never stopped anyone. call it what you like, but that is the longest flat i have been around. when you don't know what you are doing and someone else is offering help, please take it. we don't like being rained on while someone has an ego. did your tire have an irreparable gash? no. that was 20-30 mins to change a flat, which should take 5min tops.
just saying.
anyhow, i love rain rides. and musicals.

If that was really 20 - 30 minutes, that was too long. I've helped other people with flats that took that long, but I'll admit it shouldn't take that long. It didn't seem like 30 minutes to me, 20 maybe, but all of my time telling devices were either in my bag or in the dirt, and I was annoyed with having my first flat on a group ride, so my sense of time may have been way off. That was my 2nd flat, ever, so I hardly have the mad skillz.
I'll gladly take help from anyone who is faster at changing flats if they offer. No one said anything more than "you have everything you need?". Anything to get the group moving again.
The groove that got me actually did throw me a way, as evidenced by how sore my right side is, and mashed my STI levers and front brake pretty well. Now I know you can just knock STI levers back into place, but I wasn't about to do the last bit of the ride with binding front brakes when that takes a minute or so to fix.
Apologies for the delays. Damn fun ride though and what an awesome pub.

Manray is temporarily closed due to plumbing problems, or at least it was last time I walked by. I think Derrick was there not too long ago, so they've got to get some major plumbing work done before they can reopen their doors.

MECHANICAL!! It is said many times, make sure your rubber is good and your tires are at the proper inflation (especially in the winter when you don’t see that pothole under the puddle) or just ride a Pugsley. Does Surly have a master plan for world domination? There are about as many Surlys’ on these rides as there are Suburus’ at any Cascade Trailhead.
After about 15 minutes, I left for home and came across a couple of smart 83’s under the WS bridge all dry and comfy (Der&Hap). That is where we should have waited and sent somebody over to the minimart to pick up some beers. It was a shame that we were only 10 minutes from the Swell.
With that said, it was good to see some familiar faces again and ride for a ways.

Anyhoo, it was great to get out again with all the rest of you jerkfaces. I got home completely soaked (catching that 18 wheeler splash over on the way back didn't help), cold and tired as hell. And somehow it was still a kickass ride. I even rode back up Post alley on the way back for shits and giggles.

I got good at changing a tire quick by sucking at putting a new one on and somehow ruining something like 6 tubes the first time I changed tires on my bike.

I have the sneaking suspicion that the Kendra Contenders that my faux racing bike came with don't do a particularly great job in that area. They're probably nearing the end of their life and I've heard good stuff about the Marathons.
