getting started on this early this year. we're going to need a new race trophy at the end of january. if anyone has an idea for one, and wants to put it together, here's your chance.
if you have an idea, and you want to make it, get on it, and drop me a note letting me know you're going to handle it. it can be anything really. point83 specific, or bike specific, or greenlake specific. whatever you can think of.
some of our old ones:
05 trophy (daniel featherhead won, j_ryde made)
06 trophy (made by dennyt, won by james stanglor)
current one is going out to a winner this december. slapped together by me

I've also been wondering about the annual spoke card design competition too.

Seriously, we need a design like this. The first year cards were BIG and BRIGHT and SIMPLE.
I miss recognizing a bike as belonging to .83 from across the street.
I miss the random meetups that happened when people would see my spoke card in front of a bar and stop in.

Yeah... and just one design.
Ben's is awesome. If there were a poll to rig i'd rig it now.

cool cool.
but the trophy people. the trophy. who wants to make the next one? we've got metal workers and designers and such in the group. if you people fail me ill be forced to stick a vegetable on a stick and paint it again.

I claim 1/3rd design credit for this with Ben and Nygaard.

look, the point is, we'll have a "Design the back side of ben's spoke card" discussion later.
this is about the trophy! given that spoke card design, maybe you could even come up with something thematic?

Love it! Let's make it 4" x 6."
I can knit a trophy cozy.

Love the spoke card. No idea about the trophy. I can help if need be. We also have a shed full of bikey parts so let me know. Or maybe I'll come up with an idea.

Vegetables painted and stuck on wood do last, not well but they do last. Golden decaying potato on my front yard says "hello."

I think if you put a seed on a stick, it would last a long time.
Like, say, a walnut. Or a chestnut. Or an avocado pit.
My mom used to have this dried bunch of Indian corn she put on our door this time of year. That thing lasted for five years at least, probably longer.
What this has to do with .83, I don't know.

I have a fake cucumber which was came from a local eating establishment and somehow came to live at my house. I think it'd make a great trophy. I'll let you put it on a stick and paint it though.

THAT SPOKE CARD IS THE GREATEST, THERE WILL BE NO COMPETITION.
Also, for the trophy, I think I'm going to go to a porn shop and get one of those kits you can use to make an exact dildo replica of your own penis. Then I'm just get it bronzed and that can be the trophy.
Great idea?
or Greatest idea?
