only 2 more chances to win the greenlake race this year.
tonight, and december.
I thought december was the "race of champions" and only the winners of the previous 11 months compete?
Last chance qualifier the night of the final race, winner gets to race again!
In 2005 Seth (vermontbmx) did this and got 2nd in the final, behind Featherhead.

Awesome! Everyone ignored the hobo that yells at us to slow down and not go up hills and take 99. People had fantastic "Honk if you like bikes." signs. There were no cops.
We finally looped Mass around onto itself. Virginia, left onto 3rd, left on lenora, left on 2nd, and left again onto virginia. We only stretched out on 3 sides of the block so the mass wasn't able to eat its own tail. We'll have to try again in the summer!

damn that final sprint was crazy. we were five abreast coming into the finish, clockwise - backwards is how ben does it apparently.
a clear first place sprinter, a tie for 2nd and a tie for 4th. haven't seen that very often. i gots me one more chance to get in on it, i guess.

I think it'd be great, IMHO, if the bike cops tail us and one of them falls on the tracks. Maybe then we'd see some fixin'.
We did go on the tracks. I think one person fell. No cops.
Great Mass, one of my favorites yet. We lapped downtown a few times then took Westlake up to Fremont. Good mood, no cops, no 99, stayed together.

actually...
we were being followed by the po-po after the rise out of Pike Place and our descent to Westlake to ride like SLUTs...where someone DID eat that bitch. I saw 'em go down and get right back up so i'm guessing they were okay.
two questions for y'all:
1- WTF is up with the LACK of corking?!? thats just dangerous
2- WTF is up with overtaking onesie, twosie cars till theyre trapped? thats REALLY dangerous! I can attest to this as i was nearly slo-mo flattened by a 2007 white Range Rover that we were all allowing to roll down 4th with us. That is the closest, close call ever...her front tire actually rubbing against my shoulder and bag!
That said, great mass! And i'll seconded the "honk if you like bikes" signs...brilliant!
<EDIT>
oh, and Ben, i have your dorky wool hat

All hats owned by Ben are dorky. Some even run away to seek a life free from dorkiness.
Glad things went smoothly. As for overtaking cars goes they need to be stopped until they're behind Mass. And yes corking IS important. See all you crazy Massers next time!

ah, so it "found" me, not the other way around. i'm okay with that. dorky hats don't bother me when I wear 'em.

as for the lack of corking... thanks to everyone who did cork, but it's kind of the responsibility of every experienced Masser. Sometimes the light's green when the front of the Mass goes through, but then the light turns red, and that's when you need the corkers. So, if you're in the situation where you think "Fuck, why isn't anyone corking?" that means you need to park your ass in front of the car that needs corking. It's as easy as that.
Many thanks to everyone who did cork. We had relatively few incidents at the back of the Mass this time... several close calls, but nothing too serious. Fact is, we did need more corkers. We did do a good job of keeping the Mass together, though.
Good times! Yay bicycles!

Awesome awesome mass! I felt like we did a great job of keeping it together. It was fun, smiles all around and AWESOME honk if you like bikes signs!!!
Gasworks and whiskey did me in. I left my bag there and it pretty much has the contents of my life. Did anyone pick it up? Know where it went? It has some seriously important stuff in it.
A bottle of whiskey and a whole lot of love to whoever can help me recover my LIFE!!!

Thank you to Molly for making those "Honk if you like bikes" signs! You're awesome! The best part was watching a grumpy-looking person getting corked see you waving the sign around like a happy retarded idiot and seeing them cheer up and start honking their horn.
Next month: bigger and more signs! I'm planning on bringing many cans of PBR to shove in the windows of random cars. We gotta make it FUN! I saw a few shouting matches last Friday and it made my Christmas Spirit level go down :(
