I'm on my way out the door from the squadron briefing room right now, so you know what that means.
I expect to be back in springtime or so. Looking forwards to riding with you all again. I promise to put lots of miles in on the spinning bike so I'm ready for a Joby hill-fest the first Thursday after I get back!
I can't say enough how much I like getting emails underway. My address is colemr(at) maine(hyphen)blue(dot)navy(dot)mil
Thank you so much, no matter how mundane you think your news is, it beats the literally hundreds of weather reports, ballistic parameters, notices to mariners and situation reports on various emergent superpowers and third world warzones I get otherwise. I really want to hear your ride reports, the .83 holiday festivities, the crashes and the craziness- I intend to live vicariously through you guys for a while.
Unfortunately, like anything else good, the government has to ruin it with rules and restrictions:
- max message size is limited to 8K due to the nature of our message reception equipment
- don't send attachments or use non ASCII characters. No pictures, no media. I can only read the standard 88 character set; everything else gets filtered.
- don't trip the content filter or I can lose my email privileges. And mum will flip out if I stop talking to her because I have no email use. Profanity, sexuality, safety use, etc. Anything not in English or using a calendar date will trip it too, believe it or not. Remember, anything you write could be read by someone else, although more often than not, it isn't.
- It takes a week to ten days to get email reception going. So wait a bit to start sending.
- Finally, I promise to reply to every message you send, but not necessarily right away. We go through periods with no sent transmissions, but we receive virtually every day- so be patient if I don't respond right away. I got your memo.
Thanks so much everyone! Keep it rubber side down for me please. And enjoy Tokyo you crazies...

Yes yes and yes. We'll miss you. Too bad you didn't get to come out on a last ride with the crew.
We'll keep you updated on fun stuff and we look forward to your return!
