Hey all,
Patrick McGrath here. I wanted to let you know that you're invited to a little get together at the Big Time Ale House on the Ave next Thursday the 20th. David Hiller and I will be there from 7PM on to talk about bike advocacy with anyone who cares to show up. We might even buy a round or two.
It's a chance to update each other on how things are going in the policy world and to share ideas about the next big thing. Get the scoop on: Stone Way, Lake Forest Park, the streetcar, and more. Bonus: good beer.

I'm just worried about the advocacy melting and making my drink taste weird.
I'd go to this if I wasn't already double booked and missing the Santa thing.

Advocacy + Beer = Awesome. However, I'm booked that evening, as is most of .83.

For sure. Can we do it earlier (as a pre-funk for the 7pm ride) or on another night?

Seriously, guys? I'm not sure why the only time you're up to inviting us for drinks and a good talk about what's going down on the range is THURSDAYS.
*grump grump grump*
That said, if you make it earlier in the evening, and close to DT, some of us might even show up. Some of us maybe even including me and the other ninja-mask wielding bike terrorists of SLB.

Sorry for the double-booking, folks. It was the only day we could make work before people start disappearing for the holidays.
By popular demand we have changed venues to the Tangletown Brewery near Green Lake.
Also, we're flexible (and don't mind killing time at an Elysian-affiliated brewpub), so if I hear a consensus that you all would like us to show up early (before the Green Lake races) , we will. Otherwise, we'll be there between 7 and 9 as planned - you can drop in whenever you want.

Well, like I said we can be there earlier than 7. If you can come, great. If not, there's always next time.

Patrick/David, why don't we meet somewhere near downtown or Belltown between 5-7pm?
that way folks can get to Westlake by 7:30, the race at 9ish, and we can have A Talk That's Needed To Happen.
someone, name a place near Belltown/downtown that has a decent happy hour and is quieter than the Whiskey Bar.

dur, maybe so that we could concievably attend? I take the invite as a compliment to the recent advocacy. I suspect that this isn't a social gathering their talking about. SLB, you on this?

Puzzling? That was mind-numbing! Here you have 200 people who are into cycling so much that they gave time to volunteer to a bike club, yet I only saw 3 bikes outside and another 4 inside when I got there about 5 minutes early. At least David and a few of the cascade staff came by bike.
A week later, Laura threw a holiday party and I think every .83er who was there came by bike.

...I don't care. I'll be wherever the advocacy and drinks are either way, and then I'll be at greenlake to watch the race.

Right, and the location was right near the end of the BGT...
...says the guy who came in the Volvo. mumble mumble.

You, I can empathize with, bringing the family and all. I'm just saying that I was expecting to see at least 20-50 bikes and I was quite disappointed that the facility didn't even have a bike rack.
Passers-by could be forgiven for thinking that it was a random corporate holiday party instead of a bike club party.

We're going to stick with the Tangletown Brewery plan for logistical reasons (to get bacl to Green Lake in time to meet the other interested parties we'd have to have a too-short meeting at Two Bells = not worth it). But I'll make sure the next time we host one of these we don't conflict with a .83 event.
Sorry for the hassle, and I'll see you if I see you,
_Patrick

C'mon man, you're president! Act unilaterally, ignore all subpoenas, appeal all court decisions, and run out the clock until your term is over.
