I need to get from MLKing and Madison to 4501 Roosevelt Way NE. Suggestions? I haven't done it before and don't want to be whipping out my bike map every mile to make right any turns I took the wrong way. Info that will help with crossing the bridge? Thanks y'all!

While you are up here my house isn't far away (it's at 63rd between Roosevelt and 15th) if you still want that fork. It's been sitting on the porch.
Otherwise I can return it to the shack...

Heya Alex,
Yeah. He ended up riding brakeless here with no problems. We thought we would try it out the first day and it worked out fine for him. Avoided the swift downhills where we could. I'll still owe you a thank you for your efforts though!

Although the arboretum is pretty, this route is efficient. Plus you might run into Professor Dave. I saw him three times in one week on this route in the summertime.

That, incidentally, is a portion of the semi-signed Lake Washington Loop (up until you hit the BGT, when they diverge).
They used to direct you down onto Lake Washington Blvd farther north (north of Madison), but changed it to the current route that joins LWB at Harrison, maybe to discourage recreational riders from Lake Washington Blvd between Madison and 520? I'm not exactly sure.
It's best to know both routes, since the more easterly one is the best way down to/up from the east side of the Madrona Ridge (the Lake Washington beaches), and the westerly one leads you to the west side of the Madrona Ridge (20/20 Cycles, the CD, etc.)

Only a few blocks from Madison & MLK. Never done it, but it looked pretty maybe moderately alright, average at best.
Yeah, huh, no.
I've done it on foot, and it's noticeably steeper than other steep hills in this city (say, any street where the sidewalk has those bumps). I don't think I've tried any of the other top twenty --- maybe one of the nearby parallel streets to Roy once; I was on a tandem, and my stoker get off while I rode the brakes down.

Great idea for a race: 20 steepest streets, time trial.

I emailed the guy who put on the Polka Dot rocker a bunch of North Seattle hill climbs. Looking forward to that race already.
Also, I've overheard another good alleycat idea from a point 83er: Dick's alleycat. Go to each Dick's and eat or drink something.
