as the story goes - one of the guys at my work, his brother, and a friend, were stopped on their bikes and questioned with hands placed on the hood of the cruiser by spd.
this happened in the vicinity of the now infamous new rail tracks that make riding a bike a bit less than fun than it ought to be.
according to said story the cop replied to their inquiry as to why they were stopped that they had information that "cyclists associated with .83 were planning some unauthorized disruption or action or protest in relation to the rail tracks" --
well, I haven't waterboarded my colleague to give me the whole truth of the story, because he's late for work, but to me this sorta means there's a log-in on this site belonging to or monitored by the spd or slut :)
its nice being notorious, I guess

the public can view the site without a log in.
while point83 doesnt usually go a day without doing something illegal, bringing down trains isn't our usual MO...

While I don't doubt that SPD monitors the forum, I doubt they're incompetent enough to be a whole month late for cracking down on the taming of the slut. I could be very wrong though.
However,
I heard from an anonymous source that motorists associated with AAA were planning to clog the streets of downtown in protest.... what's the SPD anonymous tip line again? I bet somebody around here knows it...

I think we should ALL complain about that.
Dear SPD tip line:
It has become apparent that every weeknight between 4pm and 6pm, thousands of cars are going to be taking to the roads of seattle. They will be running into each other, running down pedestrians, running red lights, and generally causing havoc. As a proud citizen of seattle, I do not feel safe with this regular vehicular protest of a functional transportation system. Please mobilize to protect us from this threat.
Thank you,
John Everybody.

Crap, one time I squashed some quarters on a freight track. They know!
So the following are now criminal activities:
Riding bikes, Association, and protest. Heads up, kids.

I blame myself too for trying to help with advocacy with no prior experience at it.
Seattle Likes Bikes did have some email communication with SPD, I drafted responses but those were vetted with other folks before they were sent, they made no mention of .83 and emphasized that we are entirely against violence and endangering anyone (cyclists or slut riders).
SLB has been working to seperate itself a bit from .83 (not cause we don't like y'all, but we need to be a distinct entity and not pull you into all of this protest stuff if you don't want to be in it).
If you get more details, please PM me with the when/where and details. Random SPD violence against cyclists (.83 or otherwise) isn't cool and I'd like to have words with my elected officials about this.
DOUG.

Hmm, there's a lot of hearsay here, so I think I'll wait for more info before I storm the castle. But considering SPD's history I would not be surprised if this is at least a partially true tale. Keep us posted.
Meanwhile, does anyone know if Kerlikowske ever found his gun and, if so, did they give him his bullet back?

You just need to dissolve it in to an alkaloid solution and bake it in to rocks, like Alex Wetmore does.

Thankfully Joby Lafky brings the paraphanalia that makes using my product actually useful. Otherwise no one would buy it.
Derrick's problem is that he tries to sell^h^h^h^hgive away when Joby isn't around.

Why doesn't the spd just get an account on the forum so they can air their concerns directly, get insulted by Henry and Ben, and pm Alex for some rock like everyone else? Sounds more reasonable than harassing random cyclists. Story sounds kinda fishy anyways...
