Granted, it's no PI incendiary piece, but the LA Time is doing a week-long point-counterpoint on cycling infrastructure and planning.

Oh Boy
This sounds exciting, since I'm planning a trip to LA in Feb. I am going to ride the Leap Year Critical Mass. I have cycled in LA before so I know about this car culture area and it can be pretty tough.

Hey, ro, I live in L.A. now. We should plan to meet up at CM. There are a few in and around L.A. Which one are you planning to ride?

Joe
I don't have a specfic ride in mind. Didn't you say you have ridden the Westwood Mass? How is it going in LA?

The westwood mass is fine by me. It meets up with the downtown mass. Be prepared for a low turnout. Based on my experience we might be the sole westwood CM riders.

L.A. is uneventful for me, but then I guess being in grad school can make anyplace seem boring. The biking situation isn't too bad here. I'm volunteering at the bicycle kitchen and slowly getting a feel for the scene here. I'll tell you one thing: I do miss Seattle and .83 rides!

Joe is lonely for that .83 crowd; absence does make the heart grow fonder. All the little imperfections of the .83 crowd are smoothed away with time.
I am planning a Train, Bike, hike, bus trip with my little bike in the middle of February.
Train to Oakland visit friends, Bart and Cal trains to Palo Alto to see the prologue of the Tour of California, bus to Santa Cruz, bike HWY 1 to San Luis Obispo catch stage four of the tour, train from San Luis to Santa Barbara catch stage six of Tour, bike to LA catch the final stage in Pasadena, visit family and ride Critical Mass with Joe Feb 29th Leap Year. Anybody, everybody welcome.
