wanted to pull this out of the main FHR thread so it will be seen.
couple of things that i need to borrow or help with. socialism!
main things i need to get my hands on now:
GOT a heater 1. portable heater (propane?) because we'll probably be freezing
GOT 2 of them 2. ezup 10x10 tent (more than 1 would be fantasterific)
3. someone with time to go to the MSR dumpster and get me a huge pile of their yellow and red rubber material for bibs. (need a few panniers full)
and lesser than the top 3:
4. creative prizes (talk to people you know)
5. willingness to work the finish line (tentatively gsbarnes + kids, and jeff's girlfriend who we aren't quite sure exists)
if you can help out with any of that, drop me a note. i can arrange to pick everything up from you
thx!

Ben keeps his door unlocked, right? So we can all join in the fun.
My manning the finish line is looking more and more certain, but I could always use help since, for instance, last year I couldn't figure out how to start the burners. Aaron, even with the flu, was more mechanically inclined than I.

I can supply a popup tent thing, usually it's a pain in the ass to get since it's at my parents house ... but since i moved home it won't be a problem!
I wonder if my mom is done with my laundry yet...
Also Amanda and my (former)roommate Jessie are tentatively in for being around the finish line, but if they have to wait around in Winslow for too long they'll probably be drunk and on their backs with some wealthy retirees.... i didn't say that.

I guess that's why he's a mechanic insted of an internerd.
I can stop by OR or whereves, I ride that stretch twice a day. I might have to get it to you in a few trips, I don't have panniers so I'll just be strapping a garbage bag full to my rack and wobbling off.

that made my eyes throwup
...heres an idea...
a group of folks with panniers could get together one night and ride to the MSR dumpster to get scraps
now, only if we know folks that could do that
i hate the internet

henry, thanks, ill try and come get it maybe this weekend? ill call you. fuck that, ill bug you on gchat
langston, ROCK, that would help a bunch. doesnt actually have to be a HUGE pile. when its flattened it takes alot to build up. maybe one big backpack full? let me know when you have it and i can pick up or you can hand off to me at a ride. (and my snowpants!)
if anyone has one more ezup tent, that would rock
thanky

She DOES! She DOES exist!
We have 3 camping chairs and a propane stove we will bring, and I'm working on the canopy tent. If you would like her to drive anything over for you just let me know and we can arrange it.
And you be nice to her!

hey jeff, if you get another tent, let me know. im going to be driving all the chili, prizes, tents, heaters, etc over a night or two before the ride. my mom lives right up the hill from the finish line and shes going to pickup truck it down there for us.
shes probably NOT going to want to take a car on the ferry that day, it's going to be packed to the brim with bikes. if we get everything over the night before, then she can just walk on the ferry and up to the finish line easy easy. it's only about 1 mile from the ferry dock. and it's only 5 dollars for her (total, with return trip) instead of about 30 if she takes a car.

If you need hauling, I can loan my bike trailer, but then you'll have to put it on your bike and haul from the ferry; I want to race without having to carry the trailer.

thanks dashap, i think hauling is all going to be taken care of. im moving most everything over the night before. borrowing lees trailer for a few things that ill bring over day of(drinks, drinks, drinks, and race handouts, etc)... ill hand off that trailer to the finish liners then we'll be off

My wife officially has her act together - she registered for the CBCH (and plans to do the same for the FHR), so the only thing that should keep me from manning the finish line is illness.
Which doesn't mean I don't want company/help.

heater and 2 ez up tents are taken care of.
msr dumpster, more prizes, and people to help out at the finish line are all we need now.
going to be a great race day.

Wait! I have both common sense and driftwood. How do I compare the two?

If you are trying to compare the two, you are simply contemplating the existential nature of driftwood and you have no common sense.

Yeah, it could be worse. We could be listening to a life insurance salesman.

I'm a possible finish line caretaker. I'd have to take a later ferry. Let you know next week.
