Larry and I have been going out on long rides every sunday and I thought a few of you might want to join us. We usually cover at least fifty miles and try to get started before noon. Our routes are usually fixie friendly, but still challenging. We wouldn't be dropping people, but these aren't Slow Sunday rides either. Anyone feel like joining us?

I was trying to do something like that with Bike Gang, which was meet at (rei)vivace at 11:30. Only the few times I did it we just ended up climbing hills.
So, please let us know where and when, and I'll show up when I can!

Cool. I'll post the relevant bits on Saturday. I'll figure out the rest by then. Meeting place will probably be in the Udist or Cap Hill. There's a fun ride out to Manchester State Park I'd like to do. It involves a ferry ride and it's pretty long, but not very hilly. The park itself isn't much, but the ride rocks. There's also a surly fisherman bar near the park that only takes cash, so bring some. There's not an atm for miles that works. I did this one with Alastair last year and it was awesome. I think it was about 70 miles round trip, so we would need to get going by 10am to keep things easy.

Sounds like fun. Details when you have them. If I can't make it this Sunday I'll try to make the next one. We've been doing 30+ miles on the Slow Sunday rides recently, and they're getting longer. Did 37 this Sunday. But maybe its just me.

I think you invited me to come on a Bike Gang... to climb hills.
You should do more Bike Gang rides. I'd totally be down. Easy on the hills.

Excellent. I need to get in some pre-touring miles, and this sounds like the perfect way to do so.

You can count me in too, on my new fixie. So hopefully it's not too rough. But I'm finding tooling around Seattle hills to be easier than expected.

This is the route I'm thinking. The map starts at my neighborhood, but will actually start in the U district. I'm thinking meet at the CIP at 10:00 AM. Yes, I know it won't be open, but we all know where it is. If anyone has any recommendations, please feel free to voice them before Sunday. The elevation map looks daunting, but I'm still thinking of bringing my fixie. Don't blame me if you bring yours and it turns out to be hellish for you.

What is with the huge climb listed for when we would be on the ferry?

there is a climb from Lincoln park up to the ferry terminal, it's not that bad though...

Ahh ok, it looked like it was at the 20 mile mark, which is out in the middle of the water!

Okay guys. We're leaving from Cafe Vita on Pike in Capitol Hill at 10:00 AM. Seems like most of the people going live on cap hill so I might as well meet you guys down there.

Kalen often seems unimpressed. Doesn't mean he is.
How many miles over how many hours? And how were the hills? It ws my first Sunday on my fixed. Figured I'd go for Slow Sunday since the mileage is typically the same, about 30 miles, but we do it over a day.
I'd like to come along in a couple weeks. For now, though my Sundays are booked.

The ride was a lot more fixie-friendly than I anticipated. Lots of small rollers with a couple of moderate climbs. I wish I had ridden my fixie instead of my road bike. I'm not sure how the next ride will shape out. I'm trying to find a more exciting military ruins for us to explore. Hopefully I'll have a destination by Tuesday evening. If anyone else has a destination in mind, feel free to post it.
