There was once a time when the cargo bike rides were heavily attended by members of the bike club point83. (Pictures don't lie!) http://www.rideyourbike.com/cargoride13.html

Anyway. There is another one this coming weekend and I'd love to see some of you guys out. The theme is Spring! Flowers! And fresh foods! Though it's a cargo bike ride it's more than welcoming of bikers and bikes of all types, ages and sizes!

For those that don't know; the cargo bike ride is partly about showing off what can be done with bikes! Bike trailers, xtracycles, cargo bikes, rickshaws, what have you. Part two is about community and hangin out at a beautiful park with old friends (looking at each others ugly mugs in the day light), making new friends and eating tasty foods.

It's a pot luck so bring a dish. Bring something fresh, home made, dumpstered, whatever floats your boat.

Meet up is Myrtle Edwards, 1pm. From there the plan is to ride to Ballard for some radical marching bandness and then out to Gasworks for foods and chillin.

Please come join us!

Also: I'll be on this ride, and so will my sister, most likely. Think we should stick her on the Xtracycle and make her haul a lot of crap?

Really? I thought we needed some more. Maybe someone from the ride last night could post some bitching about hills too?

I think to keep this thread on topic between the initial post and subsequent posts the title just needs to be changed to "Baggage Ride"

Baggage ride? Looks like more of you own a cargo bike that I first suspected...

I'm there sans cargo bike.

Thus proving that we can start to tangent even before we begin.

I will not be going due to my upcoming Network+ test and study schedule. Otherwise, everyone play nice, and don't be a square.

And somehow, my liver still functions.

Per the forecast, there's a 90 percent chance of rain on sunday. That could mean anything from a few drizzles to raining like a motherfucker all day.

Must recon site to determine whether cover exists.

NWS has been wrong all week. I would not be the least bit surprised if the big low they are expecting on Sunday does not come until late in the day.

I'm not certain where to meet on Sunday;

Per the "flyer" it says to meet near the naked man statue, but the map says that's in West Seattle.
There's also a naked man statues near the sculpture garder downtown SEA.

WTF? I'm new here and yes I fucking googled it.

RIDE!

Peace,
Chris R.

It starts at the Naked Father and Son Fountain at the entrance to Myrtle Edwards Park (Alaskan Way & Broad), then rides to Alki, which is what the map is centered on.

Otherwise viewable as:

Starts here: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1715957
Ends here: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1715961

Roughly...

That still isn't clear, since Aden's first message to this thread said that it was going to Gasworks. She's the organizer, so I tend to trust her more than Aaron's page about it.

It'd be really nice to know what the plan is before the ride.

Fuck all. I hate unclear instructions. Frankly, I only looked at the link Aden provided.

At least the start point is commonly agreed upon, so unless going to Alki is is the FAIL for you (like it is me), then where it goes after shouldn't be a game killer. Otherwise, yu could call Aden and ask, PM her and do the same, or some other means of confirming the "plan" with her. Anyone tried yet? I'll call her if nobody has her number.

::edit:: I have e-mailed her and asked her to respond here. Keep hitting Refresh until you get an answer.

Meet up location is the same. Creepy father son statue. Destination has changed.

Val thought it would be fun to hit up the radical marching band festival in Ballard, and so it is! From there Alki is too far for a cargo bike ride, so we'll be going to Gasworks for the food and fun.

Looking forward to seeing those of you that make it out.

And thanks for making this 'teh awesome thread'!

I forgot to mention in the original post that this is a SUPER green ride. We poo poo cars and haul our own stuff around. We love flowers, eat fresh local foods and BRING OUR OWN PLATES AND UTENSILS!

So please, plan on having your own kitchen ware. Last time I was lucky Val brought extra stuff. Don't assume so this time!

Agreed, it seems like they are really good at all standing on the same milk crate at one time.

Great ride! I think we counted 20 people plus a few who just showed up at Gas Works. Lots of rain, lots of fun. Can't wait for memorial day.

Thanks Aden for organizing it and bringing flowers for everyone.
