we ride in six hours, and then we go hunting the wolf that ate tiw's hand, and probably ben's toe as well.
are any japan-trippers coming out for a stateside ride before they depart? we could go ride around and then find somewhere to quench our thirst with cheap sake.

I thought it was Tyr... at least that's how I've seen it in English versions. BTW, my bikes are named after Odin's ravens. So, long story short, I'm down to go off hunting Fenrir.
I'll make a deal with the wolf, such that Lee puts his hand in the wolf's mouth, so he can eat it if we betray him (which we will).

Tiw is the aryan version of the OHG Zio... Tyr in the eddic speech. Check out chapter 9, Volume 1 of Grimm' Teutonic Mythology for a short history and analysis of the god. Grimm actually says in a footnote on pg. 136 that it may be Teow and not Tiw in the aryan speech.

Dude I hardly know you, but these posts were you shit up the thread with some fucked up rambling of a post, consisting of what I assume are random facts you Googled/Wikipedia'd, passive-aggressively asserting your "mental superiority" above us all are fucking stupid.
The Old High German name is Ziu not Zio. For those of you who didn't know; Tyr is the One handed Norse God of single combat. The relation is that Tuesday is named after the Middle English word Twisday, named after the Nordic god Tyr.
Oh look; I can use the internet too. Everyone is thinking it; I'm just saying it.

As a rule, John actually knows this kind of stupid shit, which you would know if you knew him and hung out for more than an hour.
I'm neither attacking you or defending him, I'm just saying that he has dropped this kind of random "elder god" crap on me in the past.

I don't doubt that John is an intelligent dude. It just makes him come off as very arrogant.

No, I went over to my shelf and pulled down volume 1 of Jaccob Grimm's TM and looked it up. Lee has a minor in comparative religion and it actually gave me the raised eyebrow moment that sends one over to their bookshelf. When Koos asked the question I actually had a desire to research the point and share the information. It was a technical point and the answer was concise without being overly brief with a suitable addition of a cited work.
I am sorry you saw this as arrogance, a person tends to see what they want in things:

Did anyone else on this thread ride bikes?
We rode South to Dave's house where we previewed race refreshments and lusted after his outbuildings. Then onto a park with zipline, a taco truck on Ranier, then a bunch of us broke off for the CIP. What'd we miss?

Hills, beer, Rob making it rain with his lack of fender-age, and fantasy race planning on a large map/coaster.

Ziplines are almost as much fun as summer lake swimming.
Wow, that much un-fun, eh?
Swimming on a point83 ride is like a triathlon; why ruin a good ride with the misery of swimming and a run?

My friend, lake swimming is the best thing ever in the summer on a .83 ride. Zip lines are a close second. As are bonfires.

Saw him when we went to the Sloop/Roanoke not too long ago.

I wholeheartedly support this idea. A good destination for an upcoming long-haul Sunday, perhaps?

the ride out there is nice, but can we go somewhere that sells beer by the pitcher? Rogue was a massive FAIL last time, or am I the only one remembering it as such?

i had a great time there last year. i had my own tab at the bar and just kept going up and getting my own. not having pitchers didnt bother me. was more about the fun getting there (and back) than the destination.

seconded...except for those who hit bollards, curbs and the ground with their mouth.
bollards will forever hold a special place in my heart 'cause of that ride
