I've been asked by a friend about trikes. As much of a bike as I am, I know very little about these strange 3-wheeled contraptions so I came to the hive mind for adivice...

"What do you know about tricycles? My friend wants to buy a folding tricycle to take to burning man.

Anyhow, the folding part makes me think that she's likely to buy a giant piece of crap. Are there any quality trikes? I would think it would be fairly easy to strip a trike for a roadtrip, and she's got the cargo van, so the folding thing might not be necessary."

Thanks for your input!

Doesn't pete have one for sale, cheap?

Amazon has one:

Also, since it's burning man, a home-made one would be totally awesome.

The idea of someone taking a ~$2500.00 trike to burning man and riding it to destruction on the playa is pretty rad, but I suspect navigating (on a vehicle shorter than most people's knees!) through the camps of high-ass hippies at >20 mph when you've been awake for two days might result in tears.

There's a bunch of trike makers who will sell you a Scraper Bike/trike for under $600, or...

Which, apparently, is why you're in the middle of paradise checking the .83 forum.

I like how we can see your reflection in the glass, how with one hand you're holding out your drink and with the other stretched back in the other direction you're holding the camera and taking the shot.

I still feel like I should get a trike for the next time I mess myself up:

And I know this thread is old, but could someone move it to Wrenches, Gear, and Routes?
