This story came through rss from bikehugger today about some cyclists getting tased by a country cop. Lots of debate about how things really happened. Sounds familiar.

I'll go ahead and say it:

I've never been man-handled by cops or tazed. Looks like neither will improve the size of my penis, so I'll not want either to happen to me.

Thank you.

I like how three 200lb cops can't manage to get this naked guy in handcuffs without tasering him in the back of the head several times.

Gotta wonder what cops did before tasers. I guess they just beat them with night sticks. I'll assume tasers are more PR friendly then a fucking stick beating, all screaming aside.

Or, yano, they used other methods to get unreasonable people to do what they wanted. Like got the guy a blanket and walked him away somewhere.

Actually thats not a horrible idea. A blanket with straps. Sort of like a straight jacket without sleeves. Bum rush him and wrap him up and walk him out like a pig in a blanket.

They make those.

Look at the last line. The Burritos don't have sleeves. You just rush the person and wrap em up!

I did not watch that video, but if you show up as a naked wizard anywhere near me then I will be joining the "pro-taze the fuck out of that guy" faction.

did you notice the knee-drop to the guy's back? and how it only served to create more chaos, cause the guy's in so much pain that he freaks the fuck out, then they have "no choice" but to taise him...

My old housemate was going through police academy while I lived with him. The official theory is that yes, taising is a more humane way of ensuring compliance from a non-compliant individual (more humane than getting beaten with sticks) because it incapacitates the person without causing injury (in theory).
Every one of those cops had to get taised before they are allowed to use them. Which is a double-edge sword because then they think, "i know what this feels like, it's not that bad, you pussy". I doubt whether most realize that getting taised in a controlled training situation is one thing. Being taised by a bunch of angry cops when you're not necessarily sure what you've done wrong is a terrifying, painful and memorable occasion.
But yes, give the choice, I would rather be taised than beaten into submission.

That said, cop training is fucked-up.

I didn't see that guy thinking outside of the box enough that he needed to be tased repeatedly. maybe tackled and tangled up in his "wizard robe", but the attempts to subdue him previously looked pretty ill conceived and amateur. the knee to the gut was particularly stomach wrenching. So, the "cops" looked amateur, and the tazing looked like it hurt; but all i can do is second guess, as I wasn't there.

I thought I heard him say he would put on the Red Power Ranger Costume but not the Wizard suit.
