I just want to say T H A N K Y O U to everyone who participated in this month's critical mass. It was my first time and I had been ditched by the people who had invited me, but braved going on my own anyway (something I rarely do) and I was welcomed with open arms and I had a fucking blast. I feel as if I had been lost and now found. I look forward to many many more CMs and meeting more of you beautiful people.
Next Month:
Green Lake Race Debauchery; I won't skip out on you again!

I work downtown and joined a couple buddies for CM and had a grand ol' time as well.
.. except the drunk dude wearing only shorts who blocked me on a sidewalk proclaiming that state law requires you to walk your bicycle on a sidewalk. He was docile and too slow to prevent out maneuvering.

The first time I had a cop yell at me over his PA about my choice of lane position I made a point of reading the applicable bits a few times.
What was he yelling at you for? Apart from riding more than two abreast, on highways, and perhaps at a speed that is drastically slower than the speed limit, I didn't think that there were illegal lane positions. Unless, of course, you're referring to the sidewalk here. :p

I was on 4th Ave S riding to 3rd (before 9am) north of 2nd Ave Ext S where it's three lanes (one way) and was in the middle lane maneuvering over to the left lane to turn on onto Prefontaine and got stuck at a light. He started telling me on his PA that the middle lane was "not where I was supposed to be" and that I should move to the right lane. After telling me three times I pointed up the road to the left, as we were in moving traffic and I lacked the PA to talk to him and he shut up.
RCW 46.61.770 says "... shall ride as near to the right side of the right through lane as is safe except as may be appropriate while preparing to make or while making turning movements," (except the left lane's cool on one way roads if you ride on the left.
