Are you telling me no one here is dishonest enough to say "I won September?" and get a ride in the Race of Champions?!

Koos knows the guy who won September, I'm presuming, because he got the trophy back and gave it to me when I ran the October race.

Koos, you out there?

YES. this thursday will be the greenlake race of champions.
i need to get the word out on that.

show up to the ride like normal, then we'll meander our way over to greenlake. rain or shine or ice.

Would you believe there's no Yellow Pages entry for "Zamboni Rental"?!

Count me out. I've got to fly out to DC this weekend anyways. Send me a link to the flickr collection of x-rays though, would you?

Greenlake course report:

All ice and snow is melted with a few places of small puddles. A number of people were still out on the trail at 10pm.

I had a small crash while turning into my driveway, but otherwise I'll be out attempting to place better than my last year's 8th or so.

ps, my front derailleur shifter appears to be broken. Would anyone be able to fix it at 7pm if I brought the parts for a downtube shifter?

5am and north seattle is covered with snow. im assuming it's a bad idea to have a race if the course is covered with snow and ice.

ill know more as the day progresses. currently iffy. if we postpone it because of the snow, will probably be january 8th or 15th (both thursday nights) and ill call everyone to let them know. not making that decision until later in the day, this inch of snow could burn off.

we could hold the race in a bar.

it'd probably be best to pick a bar we don't really want to go back to though.

I was planning to stick platform pedals on my mountain bike, be the only guy dumb enough to show up/make it around the lake, and take home the trophy.

Oh well. Probably much lower risk of serious bodily injury this way.

Did anybody hear the crazy thunder claps at 5am this morning? It woke me up, I looked out my window and saw snow flying sideways.

I'll show up to race if that's what we're doing. Let's play!

Yeah, you can't cancel because of snow, that would suck. I'll take third after an hour if only Lee and Andrew show up.

I thought bad ideas are what this club is all about.

Me and my nobbie tires are ready to race.

ok, i hear you. i guess it's basically up to the winners circle.

if your name is up on the list above, and you want to race tonight, let me know soon if you're a yes or no for racing in these conditions, and we might just do it regardless of the weather.

keep in mind that fresh tracks in snow are probably great, but a greenlake trail that gets walked on all day then freezes might be a bit different.

but again, you guys tell me if you want to do it tonight or not (in the next couple of hours here) and ill get the word out if it's a go or a no.
