so far most people want to race. kos is gimpy with an injury, so even if it was clear he'd have to pass it up anyways. chase isnt too keen on racing in the snow.

i need to hear from a few more people yet before executive decisions are made. if someone offered to loan chase a mountain bike for the race, we might have a better time talking him into the race (hes at 949-289-4378, lookin at you lee!)

He can borrow mine for the race, as long as he brings it back to the starting point so I can ride home.

Ah, the sound of snow melting off my bike. The janitors are going to love this.

We ride in 7!

I just failed to get my car to work. I don't think I could get it up Stone Way today. Should've gone with the bike from the start.

Of course, work also texted me that it's canceled. Too bad I can't get my car back to my house either.

I guess i'm the only whiny bitch here. I haven't ridden a geared bike since 6th grade. So, if someone will teach me how to do that again that'd be great. Also, can I borrow someone's health insurance? It looks like I'll be getting hurt tonight and I can't get on my brother's plan. San Diego didn't get much snow, so I'm not used to this. How about roller sprints? HA! Anyway, I guess I'll see you at Westlake if I make it down the hill.

Metro #5 jack-knifed at 43rd & Fremont ... and I don't anticipate going down a hill that I can't get back up. That being said, I would consider meeting you fools at Greenlake (no hill climbs for me) and watching you "race" as I drink bourbon.

It's too early to tell yet, depends on how much snow falls. I could potentially meet people at the lake with some sort of warm alcohol. I am kind of a wuss about riding in frozen snow, but have been feeling cooped up from not riding.

What time are we thinking this will happen tonight?
I'll probably get off work super late, but makin it the three blocks from my house to the Greenlake meetup some bandages to watch ya'll kill y'selves while boozin it with L-ra and company sounds choice.

Consider this guys, no matter how bad you bang yourselves up, there will be no shortage of ice for icepacks.

So kind of Mother Nature to already provide some first aid equipment.

Hot mulled cider would go good with that burbon. Hot Toddies for everyone! (weather permitting)

RACE IS ON. official word from the .83 race planning committee

ive talked to everyone except felix and bryan. apparently felix is in, and is out doing training laps around greenlake right now. bryan is a maybe. chase isnt happy about it but will race if one of you lets him ride your mountain bike. everyone else seems good to go, even featherhead. kos however is injured, and would be out even if weather was good. sorry kos :(

meet at westlake, leave at 730. race probably around 830ish? (tentative time) im not sure how long it's going to take us to get there as a group. call me to find status of group. hell, im not even sure i can get to westlake on a bike, but im going to be trying. i

This will be fun. More fun than riding in 40-degree rain, anyway.

ALSO! Joby, I found your raingear. I'm going to wear it tonight, because it's still the only waterproof shell I have access to, but you get it at the end of the evening.

I'll be at the lake circa 8:15 with a thermos of Hot Toddy waiting for you frosty fucks! This is going to be a great night for spectator sports.

As opposed to "not frozen snow"?

It's pretty here in DC, and there's a bar down the street from my old friend that has roller sprint Thursdays, apparently. SCORE!

Where's the pre-funk? I'm stuck in Belltown, looking for an excuse to leave work. Somewhere warm and with food?

There better be. Gives us peons the opportunity to create more ice on the course.

I'll probably be leaving work a little late to get to Westlake on time. Anyone else up for a prefunk around greenlake? Latona pub? Tangletown?

I did a test lap around Greenlake this afternoon. There was a lot of packed snow, and a lot of slush, but not much ice (yet).

After cruising around on my mtn bike all day, I had to do some serious de-icing. My front derailleur was completely frozen. It's all clean and lubed now though, ready for riding.

PRO-TIP for winter cycling: if you're the kind of person who rides around with your keys in your pocket, take them out. falling on them is a good way to ruin your pants (and get a nice bruise in the process).
