Better Bicycling on Fauntleroy
Echoes of the Stone Way battle over reallocating space on an underutilized roadway are being heard in West Seattle. In an effort to improve safety and balance the mobility needs of all users of Fauntleroy Way SW, the city is proposing to change the configuration of the road from SW Alaska Street to California Ave. SW.
Not only will this project add bike lanes and sharrows, but projects like the one proposed have been conclusively shown to reduce injury collisions for all users. Unfortunately, a vocal minority is raising a stink about the project, putting it in jeopardy.
Come to the open house and show your support for a safer Fauntleroy.
WHEN:
Monday, Dec. 1
5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
WHERE:
High Point Community Center
6920 34th Ave. SW
If you can't attend the Open House, call or send your comments supporting the proposed restriping to Pete Lagerwey at 684-5108 or pete.lagerwey@seattle.gov.

I will be posting a notice on the SLB site shortly, but I'm out of town so I will miss the meeting. If more is call for (a protest ride or such) I'm up for it but I'd need help.

I missed it as well, but from what I hear it sounds like they're planning on pushing this thing through, pissed off Vashon commuters be-damned. There was lots of idiotic arguments from single occupant drivers complaining about congestion and 5 minute delays. Big surprise.
