You all have the day off, right?

I think the party needs to start early this Thursday.

I want to ride some miles, eat some greasy food, drink some bloody Marys, and still be at westlake at 7:00.

2:00PM rendezvous time, Pacific Inn on Stone & 35th.

We could start at Pacific Inn on Stone & 35th.

Why? Here's why:

Done!

I think the pacific inn should just be the meetup and refreshment stop though. Let's ride a bit before we eat the huge greasy meal.

Does it involve going to Bainbridge to get fireworks from the reservation?

It should.

Is there going to be a guestimate as to when you all are getting there? I'm going to go play around on my mountain bike in the morning and probably won't be able to make a noon meetup.

Ooh! Oooh! I know what it is!

Quote:

Issued by The National Weather Service
Seattle/Tacoma, WA
11:13 am PST, Wed., Dec. 31, 2008

... ANOTHER STRONG STORM COULD POTENTIALLY BRING WINDY WEATHER TO PARTS OF WESTERN WASHINGTON THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY...

A STRONG STORM SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO ARRIVE IN TWO PARTS THURSDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHT BRINGING A THREAT OF HEAVY RAIN... MOUNTAIN SNOW... AND POSSIBLY HIGH WINDS TO PARTS OF WESTERN WASHINGTON. NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COMPUTER MODELS CONTINUE TO INDICATE A HIGH DEGREE OF UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THE STRENGTH AND TRACK OF THE INCOMING WEATHER SYSTEM. LATEST MODELS HAVE TRENDED TOWARD A WEAKER SURFACE LOW TRACKING INTO THE FAR SOUTH OR CENTRAL WASHINGTON COAST... AND DUE EASTWARD ACROSS THE SOUTH OR CENTRAL SOUND. AT THIS TIME IT APPEARS A SOUTHERN TRACK IS MORE LIKELY... PUTTING THE AREA AT GREATEST RISK OF HIGH WINDS OVER OREGON AND EXTREME SOUTHERN WASHINGTON. THE REST OF WASHINGTON WOULD EXPERIENCE BREEZY TO LOCALLY WINDY CONDITIONS AT TIMES... ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE WASHINGTON COAST SOUTH OF ABERDEEN. IF THE SYSTEM TRACKS SLIGHTLY FURTHER NORTH... HIGH WINDS COULD BE EXPERIENCED SOUTH OF A LINE FROM NEAR KALALOCH ALONG THE CENTRAL WASHINGTON COAST TO TACOMA. SOUTH WINDS IN THIS LESS LIKELY SCENARIO COULD REACH 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 45 MPH.

SNOW WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES IN PARTS OF THE CASCADES THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY RESULTING IN DIFFICULT TRAVEL CONDITIONS AND A HIGH AVALANCHE DANGER. REFER TO THE LATEST WINTER STORM AND AVALANCHE STATEMENTS FOR DETAILS.

RIVER FLOODING ACROSS THE FAR SOUTHERN LOWER ELEVATION BASINS IS ALSO POSSIBLE. IT APPEARS THE SKOKOMISH AND CHEHALIS RIVER ARE AT GREATEST RISK OF FLOODING. THERE COULD ALSO BE AREAS OF URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOODING AFFECTING THE METRO CORRIDOR... ESPECIALLY FROM EVERETT SOUTHWARD... WHERE THE HIGHEST RAINFALL AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED. REFER THE LATEST FLOOD STATEMENTS FOR DETAILS IN THE EVENT WATCHES OR WARNINGS ARE ISSUED.

THIS IS A RAPIDLY EVOLVING AND COMPLEX STORM SYSTEM. A LOT OF UNCERTAINTY STILL EXISTS SO CURRENT FORECASTS SHOULD BE MONITORED CLOSELY.

Oh, it's the Pacific Northwest. That's not a surprise.

Just barely missed the 1300 ferry. They were getting ready to cast off lines when I got through the gate.

Can I get a phone call from someone when you get to Fremont with where you're going? Or at least be there for an hour?

Lame late people / 5:00PM people are welcome to call me at (408) 627 0574. I'm planning a big circle of Seattle, so we shouldn't ever be that hard to catch up to.

Chase and I made it to Westlake, then bailed with Schkochtkott, and the Professor up the hill. The knee is still way too tender to put in any miles. I met up with everyone who was left at Meg's place. (a block from our pad) Devon cut out, then showed up about 20 minutes later trying to figure out who's bike was locked to his. Hope you made it home okay man. Chase spotted Joby, Monie, and Bryan bombing down Olive from his work. Good stories were told, cheese was consumed, thanks to Meg for letting us chill. I think everyone at Meg's place knows way too much about me now. Burly, don't forget to say hi to Ali for us. CHAINWHIP!

Good lawd, good lawd.
Damn you Fighting Cock!

I made it home with the help of my good friend limpy, thanks man.
I haven't been that drunk since I was sneaking the car out.

A fence jumped out in front of me under the Fremont bridge. (I mean really, where did that fence come from)

My coat is ripped and my knee hates me.

The fire was big, the jojo's were plentiful. Big big thanks to Meg for letting us chill. The artisan bread was delicious.

20 minutes.. hmm.. yeah that sounds about right.

Wish I could've ridden instead of showing up late and tired in a car, but it was nice to meet Devin and see some other jerks. Ryan - I'll consider it a priority.

Yesterday had lots of fun. Most memorable was Matthew & the squid.

A she-squid (female), uninterested in joining .83 for beer & a fire, blew past the group on Dexter. Matthew was not about to stand for this and proceeded to trail her until she got irritated and the he passed her with a fury.

Message to other squids: not all of .83 is just "cruising". We, at times, have speed, too.

In fact just last night I learned that "everybody does coke" and most bar food is cooked in a pan used to freebase crack. The more you know!

That should teach Meg to invite a bunch of fools from the fire pit to her house and expect none of us to show up. Yay for cheese!

I seem to recall publicly exempting myself from the "everybody". But now I know who I can get my crack-cocaine from at least.

She tried to really drop us hard, which was funny, because we were just cruising along. Squid Tip #1: if you're going to pass someone, always look at their gear combination before you attack. That way, you're ready to respond if they counter-attack.

So she went by us in her big ring, big cog, trying to grind it out in front of us. I tapped Joby on the shoulder and said "watch this", bridged up, then followed her at about 110 rpm for a couple hundred meters or so.

She-squid: "Quit sucking my wheel!"

Squid Tip #2: The Miracle Shift. Learn it, love it. Use it to tick off weak climbers.

I was gone, and she tried to follow, but the elastic broke, as Phil Liggett would say. I've been working on my foot speed on training rides lately, can't say this was the reason, but it was certainly fun. Also, this probably did not impress her, which was good, as impressing her might have led to conversation, which would have been dangerous and scary.

P.S. Actual best moment of the ride...
Joby: "Whose POS Trek is this locked to my bike?"
Me: "Probably some POS squid."

That was a fun ride yesterday. I felt pretty good that even though we did a decent amount of sitting drinking we also did a decent amount of hills.

Thanks for going with me to pick up the frame and giving the guy a heart attack when he opened the door.

btm wrote:

And that is the first step to not exempting yourself.

Last nights story time drilled home that my choice to go to school at night to be a drug counselor will have mega job security.

That was an amazing way to put good cheese to good use! Even though I doubted you'all, I am real glad we had "Story-Hour" at my house. It made my night and was a nice addition to my "appointment".

P.S.....Sorry about the "Clothes-at-the-door" incident....I really really doubted you'all!
