This Thursday!

Come on the ride with a Christmas tree. Or two. Or more.

Pile them in trailers.
Strap them to your rack.
Be like Jamie squid and tie one to your back.

meet at Westlake like usual. That will be half the fun.

If you go to Blind Pilot, you shouldn't have any trouble catching up to us later.

Using my newly purchased "fuck yeah" saw, I will bring one (maybe two) cut trees on the rack.

Let's have a little mystery (and not have anyone crash the party in a car).

There are many trailers worth of cut down trees at the north end of the 20th street bridge across Ravenna Park. All are evergreen and Christmasish. Probably not as dry as a good one that spent 4 weeks drying in a living room though.

I think we only need to worry about the dryness of tree #1.

It's yard waste day tomorrow in my neighborhood. Come over to the Wedgwood Top Pot, and get a dozen donuts and a dozen trees before Seattle Public Utilities takes them away.

I voted one, 'cause that's all I think I can logistically carry on my Soma.

Riding around my neigborhood tonight, I counted four trees on the street within one block of my house. I bungied one to my rack and drug it home. Not sure if the dragging will work all the way from here to Westlake... I'll figure something out. Maybe scavenge Goodwill for some kiddie bike wheels.

If someone wants to lend me a trailer of some sort I could probably grab more trees...

One approach: Trim off a few lower branches,
strap the trunk to the rack with rest of the tree pointing straight back.

Also, I have two burley trailers I can loan out.

Another option: two deep panniers... put one tree in each pannier (with maybe rags wrapped around the base, to keep any sharp pieces of trunk from puncturing panniers) ... then tie both trees to each other to the seatpost. (???) .. I think it should work.

My tree's potted, but I'll be bringing panniers and looking for trees along the way.

i just grabbed two trees from gregs neighborhood. they'll be all gone tomorrow sometime, so if you're planning on getting on in the northwestern neighborhoods tonight, do it tonight not tomorrow.

Mine too. Last year a few good trees were found in the alley behind my house. I'll check Thursday before the ride to see how things look this year.

If your transportation of more than three trees means no 24 case on the front rack, well, I can't support that.

Maybe one. If I see one between my work and Westlake on Thursday. If quantum randomness has generated a trailer for me to carry it on. If I feel like bringing a rope on the off chance of seeing one on Thursday between my work and Westlake. So probably zero.

How about whiskey and bacon chocolate chip cookies instead?

I've got some of the holiday drinks and fire foods. Heaven knows that when you're running (rocking?) 700x30 tubulars at 2 bar on a compact frame, you can't carry many trees.

However, given the fact that I've got a recently mended chipped tooth and seven stitches from a Kitsap County snow plow, I'm not contributing to the acts of stupidity or blood loss. Depending on how I feel the next two days, I might bring something more fun than aspirin though!

I have sparklers. Lots of sparklers. Also, assorted other excessive fireworks. Our christmas tree holocaust could shoot sparkling colored fire into the air.
