I'm riding my new bike tonight - a rarely seen Surly Pacer. Merry Xmas to me. Hopefully it doesn't explode or anything.

We ride in

Prefunk CIP.

The surly website makes the Pacer look like a stripped down road bike. Is the rack in the picture on the Pacer?

On mine, yeah. I have a CETMA rack on it. I spooged about it on my blog. I can't stop talking about the thing - I'm ridiculous. Check out my sig for details, or show up tonight.

What is a stripped down roadbike? Isn't that redundant?

I don't know- I kind of think of road bike as anything with drop bars, a certain geometry and 700c tires. Given that there are bikes ranging from touring bikes all the way down to racing bikes without water bottle bosses or frame pegs, I kind of think of stripped down differently, I guess.

I can't ride tonight because of work, so I'll check out your blog.

Ah. Yeah, it's their road bike. I'm doing some goofin off with the flat bars right now, but obviously most people roll with drops it seems. It has a couple water bottle bosses, and room/eyelets for fenders, but other than that, that's pretty much it. (Will take up to 28's w/fenders - 32s w/out). I'm rolling 25's pretty comfortably. The rack/basket thing is my own freaky ism that I've adopted. I like front loading, and this CETMA rack appears to be pretty bombproof. What can I say.

I had the commute from hell and missed the prefunk that I otherwise hoped to attend. Have a good ride, it's windy out there.
