David Arquette and D.L. Hughley?! Stupid messenger stunt doubles in hockey helmets and shoulder pads? No actual bike messenger work until halfway into the second segment?

How did this ever fail?

A struggling New York bicycle messenger service is managed by Johnny Verona, a '60s idealist who once had a shot at becoming a rock star but gave up his chance when he walked away from a record deal that included him, but not his band. He now plays surrogate father, referee and loan officer to Barkley, the ethereal dispatcher who seems to have been struck by lightening once too often; Marlon, a young husband and father of two who is also a legendary con-man; Zoe, an uptight Harvard Business School grad who's stuck at Double Rush until her dream job materializes; Hunter, who bears a startling resemblance to the daredevils on MTV Sports and is amazed that he gets paid for the rush he gets from his job; Leo, a young deliquent whose Generation X attitude clashes with Johnny's '60s sensibilities; and The Kid, who knows every tunnel, alley and short cut in the city -- and he should because at 75, he's been a messenger for 58 years.

Bless you Lee. I would have completely forgotten about Snob posting that earlier today. Now it's dissipating the crappy final 15 minutes at work.

The x-men rode in that junk, just part of the culture at the time.

Oh, I understand why they did it, but the look of it is so senseless it's genius. It puts today's hipsters to shame.

Also, according to imdb, the opening credits were filmed by Spike Jonze. Man, I bet there are a bunch of TV execs who wish they could take this one back.

That makes sense that it was Spike Jonze. He started out filming all kinds of hypercolored freestyle bmx and skate videos before he was famous. I can't believe I just watched that entire pilot.

You would argue of course that your squidwear is somehow less lamentable.
