I've done North and I've done South but I haven't done the whole thing yet... Time to take care of that.

I'm planning to do it counter-clockwise. If anyone wants to join me, they should meet me at Cal Anderson Park by the fountain at 11:30 tomorrow morning (I'm working late tonight.) If nobody posts or messages me, I'm not going to check the park. So be in touch. I'll make sure to re-check the forum before leaving in the morning.

There are some very beautiful roads on the loop, and the dumb ones at least go by relatively quickly. I think that the loop alone is 53 miles or so. Also, it's possible to bail by crossing I-90 if you decide I'm an asshole or the distance is too great or whatever.

I did the north loop Saturday, but Sunday I had a sore throat and congestion. Don't bike too hard with viruses around.

I did end up doing it, although I got a pretty late start. Work took longer than I'd have liked and I was feeling pretty unmotivated in the morning. But I did the whole thing and then tacked on an extra loop through Magnolia and around Lake Union to get a little over 77 miles.

Next time, maybe I'll start and end by crossing the I-90 bridge and adding a lap around Mercer Island. Or maybe I'll finally check out the Sammammish River trail and figure out how best to get back from Lake Sammmammish. (Other than turning around. I hate doing that.) Or...

Anyway, big-ass bike lights rock.

Lake Washington + Sammammish loop, clockwise:

BGT -> Sammammish River Trail -> Marymoor -> Lake Sammamish Trail (warning: all gravel). At the end of the LST, head west toward Lake Sammamish State Park, follow the road for a bit, and at the school (a little past the roundabout) find the trail that switchbacks up the hill and dumps you out near BCC/Factoria, where you pick up Lake Washington Boulevard and the loop again.

That's the general idea; get a King County Bike Map for details. Once you do the Lake Sammamish/Factoria route once, it's easy to do again, as you're basically just following I-90. Just watch out for the idiots getting off the freeway at Factoria.

Are we talking little grit stuff that I can ride on on skinny-ass 23mm tires, or bigger, deeper stuff that's going to be impassable?

bigger gravel. Just ride East Lk Samm. Trails sucks. Roads are for bikes.
