I'm planning on hosting a race from Marblemount to Twisp this August, Old School Tour de France style, ie a bunch of folks on fixies racing across mountains. Sound like fun?
Anyway, I figure we might as well have a barn party in Twisp once we get there. I just need a farm. Also, anybody know how to make moonshine?

A couple folks have talked about doing a "Gran-Fondo" sorta thing from Newhalem->Winthrop. I've know a bunch of folks with acreage in Mazama. If you take non-fixies...sounds interesting. I don't think I'd live on some of those descents riding fixed.

Derailleurs weren't allowed in the Tour until the late 30's, though I think they used freewheels with a few gear combos
Last year the Gran Fondo Fixies took the RAAM in 8 days, 4 hours, 21 minutes on a 48/17 gear ratio.
Let's do this the same day as the Cascade High Pass Challenge! It wouldn't be to Twisp... But you get the picture.

the folks at Salmonberry CLT along the South Skagit Highway, south of Sedro Woolley (so pretty! many dogs and trees!), and Sun Meadows, and their awesome, hops-growing, very self-sufficient neighbor in Tonasket. i tried.

Yeah, the point isn't that you have to ride a fixie, it's just sort of encouraged if you'd like to. Spandex is discouraged. Smoking cigarettes while riding is encouraged. Etc, etc.

Yeah, I could see him going for such a thing. He's an ER doc at Overlake so he'd need some notice to get his schedule right. If you pick 8/22-23 to line up with the somewhat open weekend here: http://wsbaracing.com/schedule you might get quite a few more takers.
