Okay
so the name of the game is pounding-food-in-your-face and still being able to ride?
I would like to fart wetly while pronouncing myself very interested
Now I'm going to change my underwear

I'm kinda nervous. Fries and bikes bring back memories of tossin' my cookies (freedom fries, never forget) outside the Red Robbin.

I missed the Taco Truck Time Trial. I'm so in.
Do we prove we hit every checkpoint by having a pocketful of greasy french fry wrappers?

sambar, the bar attached to le gourmand, has the best fries anywhere, ever.

Quinn's fries are retarded good. Fried in beef fat, topped with demi glace and a fontina cheese sauce.

I must agree with Ben in his assessment of Sambar's fries: They're the only place in town that succeeds in producing a fry with a golden crispy outside that emits a delicious puff of steam when broken. I also think that an analogue to the Col de la Croix de Fer can be found in a plate of chili fries from Mike's Chili Parlor in Ballard.
As a certified master of the obvious I'll state that this is going to be awesome.

2nd. Pretty much all of the food at Quinn's is retardedly good. You can be confident that on every plate, every item on the menu, something had to die to make it happen.

Anyone want this? No?
Over the shoulder.
If anyone wants extra french fries, just stick to my wheel.
yeah, same way i handle distance in most races. if anybody wants to go off-course and skip a bunch of the riding, follow me!

most of these races are a little more stringent in their requirements than the FHR. if you dont do what they want you to do at the checkpoint, they wont give you what you need to hit the next one, then you come in with an incomplete manifest. thats probably puts you to the bottom of the finish line list.

they do, they do. had them last week. I missed your race last year, Dave, I was in NC, and I'm in NC AGAIN for this one. no more late march trips to the south. I want to make a 327 race.

Sweet, my favorite food ever is the lovely French Fry!
I got a pleasant surprise today: weekend off! Hooray! I'm in. Not sure if I'll race or not though. Kinda got to see what the dive surgeon has to say about racing bikes so close to being on happy pills.
Edit: I'm taking it that this vaporizer isn't the kind you put Vicks Vaporub into.

I will be there. Does amount of fries matter here? 'cause I'm willing to fast

You should win it and try that. I'm sure your dive surgeon would find that amusing.

I'd like to get some shots with my new shiny L lens of people at the first checkpoint.
Any objections to me taking off 20 minutes early or so and then waiting at the first checkpoint for all or most of everyone else to go by?
I have no intention of winning this thing, I'm just riding for the fries and beer.

You are lighting a brand new shiny L lens on fire?
That is what I got out of your request. Sounds wasteful but oddly entertaining.
Serious answer-- maybe you should volunteer to run a checkpoint if Dave is still looking for volunteers?

Fries, not fires, was what I meant. The L lens is just the f/4.0, not the f/2.8, so it wouldn't work too well as an Archimedian weapon of war. Then again cyclists probably light on fire more easily than hardwood ships. Maybe I should douse them with whiskey as they ride by and see.
But I actually want to ride the course, I just want to get some shots at the first checkpoint, and then haul 3 lbs of camera with me for the rest of the day.
