My roommate Tori is moving out to spend the summer traveling, so Ken and I are looking for a new roommate. The room is available as early as April.
The available room is about 14 x 10, based on rough BryanArmSpan estimates with a closet, although there's plenty of other closets and storage. The room is $600/mo + utilities that go into a 'house fund' to pay the bills, we currently all pay $100/mo into this fund.
Our lease ends this month, and we'll renew it if the property manager brings it up, otherwise we'll leave well enough alone for the time being. We've paid the deposit and last month already, so you should plan on paying Tori last month of $600 back, but she's happy if you want to do it over time.
It's a 1200 sq foot 3 bedroom house with full basement and detached one car garage. The garage is used as a bike shop and storage rather than cars. There's plenty of on street parking, although I keep my Suburban in the back yard since I never drive it and it tends to draw a lot of meter-maid attention. The basement is used as the primary living space, with the TV, computers, and Tori's "craft station" there, while the dining/living room upstairs is more of den for reading, card playing, dinners, etc.
The yard is fenced, and we tend to have BBQs out back in the brighter periods of the year. I have two cats and Ken has a dog. Neither of us are home every night, so I'll likely be getting rid of my cats, but this means we're pet-friendly provided they get along with Ken's dog.
We're a block away from Squid and Ink where I eat far too often, and a couple blocks from 9lb and the rest of the Georgetown strip. It's a 5mi bike ride to downtown, where Ken and I both work.
We'd like to find someone who's into bikes, so we're asking here first. Ideally you're a functional alcoholic as well, but we're "sober-friendly" as they kids say these days. Ken and I both work in IT, so tech folk are welcome. We're both prejudice against the dorks with no social skills, so normal people are great too. We have a few couches, and a couple pews; my mother comes up from Eatonville on the weekends to do my laundry and we have occasional house guests, so you should be okay with having company.
The house stays relatively clean, but since Ken and I are gone a lot there tend to be periods where no vacuuming or floor mopping gets done, especially without Tori. You should be willing to clean up after yourself, but OCD folks would probably freak out. Stabbing me in the face in my sleep over dirty dishes is unacceptable.
