Well, looks like the "neys" have been louder than the "yeas". I'll be out tonight rockin the Redline and a sore knee after taking a spill this morning on the way in. I must say I love the southerly winds as of late ( last night I set a PR coming home 18 miles in 54 minutes)
Here's my picture, serious this came up when I googled "8.75" How perfect.

I would like very much to gou on a ride tonight. However, I have a broken chain and will in all likelyhood not have time to make it to a shop to get a new one, home to get the bike and then make it to Westlake in time.
Anyone want to help a brother out?
When I broke it I went from Madison to Eastlake all flintsy-style, stoking like a skateboarder with one leg. I got some funny looks from pestrians but still made it across town doing roughly 15mph.

I can help. I have a chain tool and I'm not afraid to use it.
Where will you be this afternoon/evening? I'm riding home around 5:00, then driving downtown around 6:00, then I'll be at WLC at 7:00.

pick up a cheapo chain that will fit on my bike, so that when the gang meets up at the CIP or where ever, I can meet y'all and do a quick install so that the lead-sled is ridable

you got it. what kind of chain do you need? I'll probably just stop at recycled on my way over to CIP.

No idea. I don't have the bike at work with me so I can't give you exact dimensions, but it has two cogs in the front and 8 in the back. I can't imagine there being a huge variety, but a cheap one is preferrable. The new wheel and shoes effectivley destroyed my budget until payday.

you just need any ole 8 speed chain.
you could get a new one, but judging by the fact that it was worn to the point of breaking you'll need to replace the cassette as well.
however, i have just what you need. an ole worn chain that you can ride till you get a new one.
i'll bring it tonight. you can pay me in man love.

I suspect that the new cassette I got with with the new wheel accelerated the death of the old chain. I'll rock whatever comes my way, many thanks.
