MFG cyclocross (the guys who produce Rad Racing GP and Starcrossed) is starting a new series on weekend days opposite the more established Seattle Cyclocross Series. Part of their program is that they're considering a "Category Du Jour"- effectively a category for those who don't want to do the license, expensive specialized CX bike or squidwear thing. Supposedly the entry fees will be way discounted, and the idea is that you're there more to hang than race to win in a competitive category for points and trophies.

Seems like the kind of thing a lot of you could get behind.

Sounds like fun, keep us posted. I hope they get some urban locations so that racing cyclocross doesn't involve a 2 hour drive somewhere. That is what has kept me from racing the last couple of years...I don't really have any issue around dressing squid-like for racing. Woodlawn, Magnunson, Discovery, Hamlin all seem like potential in town locations. I'll write this on their blog too.

Here I am being all squid-like in a cyclocross race way back in 2005. On my Bridgestone RB-T (which is more cyclocross than touring if you check the geometry). It was lots of fun.

Are you still planning to do a race around your birthday?

No, as my birthday was in February and I was in New England.

There may still be some fun. Gotta figure out what my work schedule is in two months when weather is nicer.

I'd love to come race if you do it and it doesn't directly conflict with an Indie Series race (hint hint.)
