Stolen silver 1980's Zunow Japanese NJS steel track bike, no decals. This bike has pretty unique lugwork for a track bike. Black mavic ellipses, chrome drops, black paul crankset. Stolen from in front of The Stumbling Monk tonight. The thief sawed off a huge branch on a cherry blosssom to steal the bike, so it might have a huge Krypto cable lock on it still. It belongs to Chris, one of the bartenders there, who happens to be a pretty stand up guy.

Sucks. If nothing else, he should be able to convince the owner/manager of the monk to e-mail the answers to these 8 questions to bikeracks@seattle.gov:
1. Address of the proposed bike rack location.
2. The name of the business.
3. The name of the business owner or manager.
4. The day phone number of the business owner or manager.
5. Your name.
6. Your address and zip code.
7. Your day phone number.
8. And any other comments you would like to make.
With particular attention to #8 e.g. "No racks nearby so I locked to a tree and had my ride stolen SPD case number blahblahblah"

Or anyone that goes there could. I got racks install at Squid and Ink, and GLC in Georgetown this way.

thanks for your input. is your attitude just backlash against the trend, or do you really think that nice bikes deserve to get stolen?
this is an example of a good stolen bike report. describes where it was locked, how it was locked, with what kind of lock, and includes a picture of the bike. it also says how the lock was defeated.
bikes like this will almost never get sold in their home market. the woman who had her indyfab stolen used a really good technique, which is to set a broad search in google that searches every craigslist site (using a limiter like site:craigslist.org) for keywords that might identify the bike.
anyway, hope it comes back to the owner.

I think Ali is just goofing, he knows the guy owned that bike and used to tease him about it being an "indoor bike". Ali's got an interesting sense of humor.
