Resurrecting the Bum Ride!

The worst part of being unemployed (for me at least) is the lack of structure to my day. Now that the weather's getting warmer and sunnier, I'd love to start my days with a bike ride... I'm thinking that a morning ride would be a good way to get out and get the blood moving a little... Nothing too long, since I do try to spend at least 4-5 hours a day job hunting, but I'd look forward to getting out of bed so much more if there was something interesting going on.

So here's what I'm thinking: meet at Victorola Coffee on 15th in Cap Hill tomorrow morning at 9, grab a quick cuppa coffee and leave by 9:15. Maybe we'll ride down to the Essential Baking Co bread dumpster in Fremont and see what treats we can find... I'd like to be home by 1 to continue the job hunt, so this won't be a long ride.

Let me know if you're down. Also, if you live somewhere else not on the Hill, we can meet up along the way... Tomorrow should be beautiful outside, let's go make the best out of our unemployed situations!

Does there tend to be better stuff in the Essential dumpsters in the morning? I haven't found any sweet breads in there in a long time :-/.

Anyway, I'm down for this ride. See you tomorrow.

I don't know. I've never been on a weekday morning, so it'll be a SURPRISE!

That sounds like lots of fun. I will put some effort into waking up, and being there. Will there be a coffee stop, or should I do that ahead of time?

I figured out the answer to that one all on my own.

I might come along if I can wake up that early.

How are all you stiffs doing in the office right now? Anybody send you a link to a funny video lately?

We had a really good ride. We're talking about doing this again, next Tuesday and keeping it up until we get jobs. So yes, if you're not working, come ride bikes!

There were just 4 of us on the ride, a good number. It felt really good to be out in the sun all day. Started around 9:30, rode North on the BGT, to this hidden mysterious park near 105th NE. Went back South to get food at Metropolitan Market, then down to Recycled Cycles. Realized Abram left pannier outside MM, turned around and rode quickly back, found pannier, turned around again, rode on to bread dumpster, loaded up on food stuffs, rode to Gasworks and ate honey-covered sweet bread on top of kite hill. Rode home up Interlaaken, got home around 5, right around when the working peeps were getting off their jobs. Covered about 30 miles total. It was a good day.
