They made bike commuting sound like the most attractive option. I was stunned.

One of these days, these SUV driving fuckers will realize what a stupid proposition they are.

(start mini-rant on the evils of SUV's here)
Does anyone know what the "intended purposes" of SUV's are?
-They aren't any safer. In the wrong hands they are more dangerous.
-If you can't handle a car safely in snow, you sure as shit are going to get into trouble in an SUV.
-If you can handle an SUV in snow, then you know that something like a Subaru is better because it's easier to control by virtue of it's size.

And then there are Hummers.
I really think it appropriate that the archetypical SUV is named after a sex act that really doesn't serve a purpose beyond simple gratification.

And for the record, military folks don't call the HMMWV (military variant of the Hummer) a hummer. It's called a 'vehicle','truck' or a 'hum-v.'

The last two days I was unable to commute on my bike due to mechanical issues (suprised?).

I was very unpleasent to work around, I took my coworkers out for coffee yesterday as an apology for snapping at them constantly. I traced my frustration back tot he fact that I hand't gotten to ride either morning and instead was sardined' on a bus. This only emphesised the feeling of being a corporate drone, stuck in my cubicle tapping away. I've not been a happy camper.

Today. Glory. I rode the 5.3 miles into work, averaging 20.3mph. I passed my bus _twice_ on the way in and came to work feeling like a million bucks. I've been much more succesful with clients, my energy level is up and life is just so much better. this is my rant and I'm sticking to it. Riding my bike to work and back (and with y'all) makes the difference in my life between anger/depression and positive happy energy.

I'm much easier to deal with when I've had enough exercise. I get even more moody than I normally am. Also, I want to sleep more.

That and I feel like a complete choad being stuck in traffic when I know damn good and well I could be riding my bike. When traffic is good, I only save about 20 minutes on my 15 mile commute to work. When traffic is bad, it's about even.

Alas, my bike has been down intermittantly for a much needed overhaul. Today it's getting a new bottom bracket. The old one had about 15,000 miles on it and the bearing were pretty much shot.

Missed you last night!
We rode out to your neck of the woods!
Dicks in Lake City.

I agree, riding to work is the best. I had a huge hang over and was very sleepy but the ride to work pretty much cured it.

Noticed that from the posts. I had planned on making it last night, but ended up just hanging out with the family. I've been gone so much of this year...

Replaced my bottom bracket today. The bearings in the new one feel so incredibly smooth compared to my old bracket. After 5 years and two different frames, I got my money out of the old one.

Only thing left...
New wheels. Just waiting for Soo to bless off on spending the funds.
