somehow the admin email address is starting to be used for good quality information, go figure
FYI for bike touring that way:
Quote:
Dear Sir or Madam:
The SR 104 Hood Canal Bridge, a 1.5 mile link between the Olympic and Kitsap Peninsulas, will close temporarily for up to six weeks starting May 1, 2009. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will replace the bridge’s east half, resulting in a safer, more reliable bridge.
WSDOT is working with the community, local officials and the media to ensure that everyone knows about the closure so they can get ready now.

i'm still super excited about the edmonds to port townsend ferry. one crossing per day, departing edmonds at 8:40pm on weekdays. cargo trucks given precedence, but i'm sure there is plenty of room for bikes.
i'm already sketching up a june camping/riding idea that takes advantage of that.

You'd have to take a Friday off, sail at 8:40pm Thursday, first return trip would be Sunday night at 10:40 pm (ie get to Edmonds after midnight on Monday)

The roads are likely to be busy, but Memorial Day weekend? Take the Friday off, and make it a 4 day weekend?
If anybody is doing this, Memorial Day or later, let me know. I'm down.
