This weekend I'm riding to La Conner to see the glorious Tulip Fertival....Hopefully more of them will have blossomed.

We will be meeting in Ballard around 8am on Saturday. I hope to camp somewhere in the vacinity. Does anyone know of a decent spot to poach a site around the Mt. Vernon/La Conner area- my sources are coming up dry.

Kowabunga!

Please keep me posted if you're interested in joining. The more the merrier.

Jeez Langston, don't be so rude. Not everyone can afford the cost or time to travel to glamorous destinations.

BTW, can't go, I'm flying to California this weekend.

We road through the skagit on Saturday, it was was gorgeous even though there were only a few fields of tulips blooming.

I think you'd have good luck on the Fidalgo side of the slough, on the indian reservation. Basically across the water and north of La Conner.

Gretchen - Clair and I might be interested in meeting you up there, but probably not riding all the way up. Quite possibly camping, too. We were thinking the hiker/biker site at Bayview State Park.

Gimme a call later (I lost all my contacts), eh?

Also, one should always stop by the Snowgoose when you're up there. We got some local chevre last weekend that fucking fantastic. When i die i want to be packed in a case of that stuff and put to sea.

I was definitely looking at Bayview. It looks gorgeous! It will pack on about 7 extra miles, but it could be worth it.

You and Claire better come! I'd love to see you two.

Gretchen, Sean, Justin, Zach, and Remington rode 95 miles from Ballard to Bay View State Park, only to find out that the tulips aren't actually blooming yet. You guys are tough stuff.

Clair and I cheated and drove to Arlington first, then rode on up. The detour around Lake McMurray was scenic and quiet, but seemed excessively hilly if you're going the distance. On the way back, I figured out a route which was a bit longer, but elminated all hills except for the last small climb up to Arlington. Total elevation gain on Sunday couldn't have been more than 500ft over 45miles.

Out and back.

Haha yeah I thought of you guys when we were driving back from Anacortes. There were some daffodils and two fields of tulips, but mostly just a lot of tour busses full of old people.

We had a great trip to lopez (pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/henryrose/sets/72157616999238517/ )

We should definitely do a group trip out to the SJ's sometime this spring while the mountains are snowy and the hood canal bridge is closed.

Had just been to Mount Vernon when we saw you guys, it was scary as shit there...

Daffodils were awesome.

There were more tulips than that one field, but they were set far away from the road at the shitty place where all the tourist busses were parked. Guess they forced them to bloom early for maximum profit.

Tiffany and I drove up, parked in LaConner, got about 30-35 miles in just wandering around the area, fun as hell except for the traffic.

Yeah, this ride was great. That section around the lake should definitely have been cut, my knees were complaining quite a bit. Otherwise a beautiful ride.

Thanks to everyone who made this trip such a good time. Hope we can do it again real soon.
