The last Friday comes early this month:

Westlake Center @ 5:30 PM - Mass and a meandering clusterfuck of cyclists about town.

South end of Greenlake @ 12:00 AM - The Midnight Race: beers, and a drunken loop around the lake as fast as you can go.

Come witness Tittelfitz's great feats of speeeeeeed!

I'm bringing a camelbak full of EPO this month. I'm going to win one of these things if it kills me.

I think I might come this month.

I've been injecting my EPO so it actually does some good, not just dragging it around in a camelbak. Hate that I have to keep it refrigerated - totally uncomfortable.

I propose that a secondary, handicap category be added to the Greenlake Race to
a) encourage the participation of noncompetitive racers, and
b) promote drinking while racing.

Handicap points will be self-assigned on the honor system. Prizes will be bragging rights and more beer.

Haven't you won one of these things too? And against more serious competition than the two dudes on English 3-speeds that I beat?

No, I won because Rogelio was kind of enough to run himself and Justin off the trail.

besides, the Greenlake races are entirely too serious. people all gettin' their competition on. I want to instigate more ridiculousness.

Didn't there used to be a funny bike category? It seems like that might fulfill your request admirably.

Anyway, point83 rides are already pretty ridiculous, as is Critical Mass. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing if the Greenlake Race is as serious as people racing around Greenlake, in the middle of the night, mostly on road bikes that aren't set up for racing, wearing jeans can get.

Maybe Matthew's idea about doing it as a Madison, combined with a drinking game?

ehm... well, who is gonna do the cutting, and do they actually have skills? I'm not sure I want the haircut given by a committee of drunken assholes.

I'd like to think that we have enough DIY hipsters in the crowd that one of them could give you a decent cut.

Bring pictures of what you want to do with your hair.

I guess I'm not that hip, cuz my cut I did to myself today is the sub par mullet. I feel motivated to improve my skills before I get used to this thing on my head. woke up at six this morning and I feel like falling over now but I guess I'll head down there.

Thanks, Rogelio, for playing organizer. You rock!

Brian, I'm glad you're okay.
Dude who was in third place - sorry I didn't catch your name. I'm crappy with names.

Awesome race, everybody. I hope to see you all next month.

Big turnout for the racing and some crashery:

1st: AndrewW teaching us that drug use pays off in a system without testing

1st Lady: Reanne

1st person to crash right after the finish (also 2nd overall): Tall Bryan "with a y"

3rd: Jonathan Fitzpatrick
THIRD PLACE

Tittelfitz came in like seventh... but he got a hug out of it.
Gentlemen Faces

Trackstands: McKenzie stayed up the longest and pocketed some questionably flavored beers.

A bit late, but more photos from the greenlake race.

And more importantly, the exciting photo-finish plus crash:
