This dude is a teammate of mine, and an all around nice guy. Someone just took his bike out of his room while he was napping. 3 days before conference championships, too. Fuck bike thieves.

From the email:

Hey all, I wanted to let everyone know to please keep an eye out for my Cinelli road bike. It was stolen today while I was asleep in my room, someone took it off my trainer and walked out the door, the bike is a 56 cm Cinelli Aliante frame, silver and black (half carbon half aluminum). Black Specialized seat bag, white Look pedals, All campy parts, the breaks are wired backwards (English style), silver Mavic Kyserium wheelset, Forte carbon bottle cages and white bar tape. Also stolen was a pair of Tifosi sunglasses with interchangeable lenses and a pair of custom Oakley sunglasses, white with a pink mirror lens. If you see any of these things please call the police immediately or something of that nature, Nobody rides a Cinelli so it should be hard to sell, please keep your eyes open thank you!

Most home burglaries are committed by someone that either knows the home or is a close enough neighbor to know the home owner's schedule and routine. With that said, the audacity of this crime, occurring while you were home, certainly points to a thief that knew what he was looking for and where to find it. Possibly even someone that would have known that you were napping. I know it is easy to blame a Meth Head on this sort of thing, especially in Seattle where most of our bikes are stolen to support someone's daily habit, but this sounds like it was an "inside" job. You need to think if there is anyone close to you that is desperate enough to do this.

is this like that episode of gray's anatomy where the law student sticks her hands on the burner but says she just 'accidentally burned herself' to get out of having to take the lsats?

Are you implying that he stole his own bike?

By Joby, I think you've got it! It is elementary my dear Lee, as Sherlock Holmes (aka Arthur Conan Doyle) always said, "eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth."

If it doesn't involve spokes sticking out of someone's body, I never saw it.

Gray's Anatomy = book
Grey's Anatomy = show

Unless, of course you've got Gray's Anatomy on books on tape. Which would be awesome.

What would make today any different than any other day?
