when you get back, we can hook up and compare photos. I spent most of my time just east and north of downtown. Lived in a warehouse of Chartres street for a week, then moved up to the UNO campus. Once Rita hit, we got shuttled around quite a bit. Our last duty was in the Lake Charles area.

Awesome! Keep the journaling and pics up. Mega props to the servicemen and women helping the people of LA. There's a lot of storytelling down there. Thank god at least no body is shooting back at you. I just got back from Baton Rouge working w/the Coast Guard and had to finally abandon my flip flops. Very sad. I got to ride the BR velodrome a few times too. After 3 weeks last month I swore I'd take my bike down next time. Yeah winter in LA has its advantages if you can get them. I didn't get out much, but when I did it felt oh so good, esp as my amigos back here whined about the cold and rain.
That Southern Hospitality you always hear about is oh so true. Nicest people I've ever met. And the FOOD...damn they can fry them some chicken.
