Someone donated a 2009 Surly Long Haul Trucker to my kids' school auction, which is this Saturday (May 2). If you want it, I will bid on it for you.

Details: Winner gets to order a new LHT from Free Range Cycles in Fremont, choosing frame size (42-62cm) and color (2 choices!). Free Range assembles and tunes the bike for you. Touring pedals included.

I imagine the winner could talk to Free Range about any further modifications and add-ons.

Estimated value is $1230, but this will be offered at live auction, which means it could go for much less or much more. I greatly doubt it will go over the price, since it's something you can easily order yourself at a known price. If I were betting, I'd guess it goes for much less than $1000. But really, it's an auction and who can say?

If you're interested, PM me with a maximum bid. I'll bid for you up to your maximum. If multiple people PM me, I'll work something equitable out. If I don't know you, or your name is Langston, I'll demand some form of security.

mmph. now that's just uncalled for. Alex, I'm going to try to bring your empty buckets on Saturday morning pre-ben country and leave them on your front porch. Because that's going to be the next time (and first time in months) I've been north of downtown.

So far, two people have (seriously) expressed interest, and I just sent them simple replies to verify I got their messages. If you're interested but didn't get a reply from me, send it again, or see me tomorrow at Shultzy's.

And yes, I'm being deliberately vague about who and how much. I don't want someone coming along with a max bid of $(n+1). Or in Andre's case, (n+1)$.

Long story short: no one from .83 bid high enough.

Long story: You can buy $50 raffle tickets; winner gets their choice from the live auction. The winner took the bike.

But, lo and behold, they offered a second bike later in the auction. By this point, I already knew 2 people at my own table who were willing to outbid .83's high bid. It turned out there were at least 3 others who were as well. Someone got it for $1200.
