My girlfriend, Clair, and I are throwing a spring campout party at her farm down near Olympia. There'll be a big bonfire, places to camp in the fields, hopefully some bands, friendly goats and chickens, and a bunch of folks having a good time.
Unlike Ben Country, we won't be providing booze or food when you get here. However, there's a store with beer and snacks about 2mi away and a supermarket about 4mi. We're going to try providing breakfast for campers, though, including farm fresh eggs and goat cheese.
When we did this in the fall, Miles, Bob & Margaret Hall, Colin, Meg Ha! and a couple others biked down via Bremerton and the Kitsap Peninsula. The ride's about 60mi and mostly on country highway, rolling hills, decent shoulder, not too much traffic. I'd recommend the 10:15 or 8:45 ferry to Bremerton and meeting up with folks there.
Where: 5330 Kinney Rd SW, Oly
When: May 16th - 17th
See you there. (Yes, I will not be riding)

Oh that route looks way better than the way I've gone to Olympia before. I want to ride that way. I unfortunately missed last fall's farm thing, but this one I am doing.

Kalen, I'm sad that I cannot come to this. I'd love to ride to the farm another time. Maybe as part of July's PTS (Portland to Seattle)

Kalen I don't think I'll be able to make it but a ride to go camp at a farm sounds great.
How many acres is the farm? Is it a mix of woods and fields?
Can you load bikes at the Olympia Amtrak stop?

I have done this before and would say 'yes'.

Andre - The farm is about 9 acres, mixed fields, woods, wetlands and pond. Definitely some great places to string up a hammock.
Poking around the Amtrak website, they do let you book a bike spot on the train from Lacey. The station is about 13mi from the farm, on the other side of downtown Olympia and the Capitol.
Jessica - Last year I rode STO (Seattle to Olympia). I would be down for a PTO ride this year. Let's figure something out when it's coming up.

Damn - same. Just a bad weekend for me otherwise would love to go - was looking forward to it. Weekend of the 30th-31st or Jun 06-07 would've been perfect.

Mother misses her chickens, so she'll likely drive down to camp with us. She'll be in Georgetown at my house Saturday morning, if anyone needs a ride they can probably arrange something with her.

Dudes from Eatonville are particularly sensitive about this topic and are quick to correct.

Kalen & Claire - such a cool idea! I think me & the knee need to tool around Seattle for a couple more weekends, start climbing hills, etc. before I can hit the open road. Count me in for the Fall Farm Fete.

I'm planning to bike down, but I have a group project to work on for finals sunday afternoon.
If anyone is driving down, and has room for me and my bike on the way back, I would much appreciate a ride.
If not, I might see if I can take the train home.

You could drive down. There's a thread over on Wrenches about how to get a car if you need one. Otherwise, we probably will be doing it again in the fall. Cider pressing party!
Look forward to seeing who all shows up. Should be a good time.

I'll mention again that my Mom will be driving down and would like company.
I am a lazy procrastinating bastard. Therefore I am staying in seattle. Hope the party went well.

All you folks that didn't ride back missed out on another beautiful day to ride. I went from Oly through Dupont to Steilacoom and took in beautiful views of the Olympics. Then back to Seattle via Vashon, mostly climbing hills and getting lost in Tacoma, but nice out all the same.
