HOLY SHIT! You found him! I have seen that guy at Interbike for years. What a goof ball!

cycling is hells of dangerous, i bit it hard on the way to church today and went knees-to-handlebars down on the bike. ow.
as far as that data, i think it's poorly-presented and it only gets worse after question five.
Lee, I think you meant to say going to church is dangerous!
Cycling is and always has been a safe activity. Save for Zoo Bomb and drinkin and riding. Point 83 is pretty safe even.

I think I'm a hazard to myself on a bike. I'd say, of my dozen or so ER visits, 80% were bike related.
But I rarely crash when riding for transportation. It's just when I'm "recreating" that I do myself in.

EXACTLY DENNY!
Riding a bike just to get somewhere is totally safe. It is when you apply sport or recreation to something that people get hurt.
I too have been to the ER many times (mostly in my youth) and 90% were from bike crashes. In fact, I can only think of one that was just a cut finger. The rest were bike wrecks. And all times I was riding like a crazy fool. Taking chances, and riding fast, etc. I am very surprised I have not really crashed on a .83 ride. Except for that rope burn, but I did not crash.

Though technically this may have been after the .83 ride but didn't you have a foggy recollection of crashing by the fisherman's pier just before crossing the bridge over to west seattle on your way home. Covered in sand was one of your clues I think.

I was a witness to this. It was after a Dead Baby ride. Aaron was on his Xtracycle. Besides me, the garbage collectors saw it, too. The garbage cleanup is why there was sand everywhere (for some reason this makes sense).

I do vaugly remember the sandy part. That is why I did not get hurt. See, Don't ride thru sand on pavement drunk at 2 AM and you won't crash! I can't remember much else.
