My mom and stepdad are coming up next month to tour Vancouver Island with me. It will most likely be much cheaper to rent bikes then fly them out. Does anmyone know of a good place to rent decent bikes?

I don't know if you can find a bike on Meares Island but its so pretty, NW of Tofino. The of upper Kennedy valley on the way there weakly bares the witness trail, also very nice. Carmanah, Carmanah, Kyuquot, Brooks Peninsula, I can't stop writing dammit.

I would thinking renting bikes on the Island would be cheaper than renting them here and transporting them up. That would add almost a day of rental just getting the bikes there.

Plus I suspect any rental place would have a problem with you taking the bikes out of the country.

gretchen-
i didn't even think to offer you an extra bike that i have.
52cm Specialized. 80's steel road bike.
it's geared pretty high, 22t is the biggest cog, so you might want to get a new freewheel.
still cheaper than renting a bike, and you guys can keep it while they're here to tool around seattle.

if you need other details let me know, i'm in ballard so you can pick it up and drop it off pretty easy.

Thanks for the bike offer. I think we're covered for in town riding- I'll put my mom on my Ranier fixed gear and my step-dad on Sean's bmx :)

Thank you all for the insight. I think my mom found a spot in Victoria to rent which looks to be $130 for 4 days! And they rent racks and panniers...
